Steve Smith (Player of the Match): "(Did you target any particular bowler?) Not really. I was just happy to see that over went right. It was a quite tricky wicket. Bit of skid, bit of stop and some spin was on offer too. I tried to navigate that and spend a bit of time out there. Then ya won the match.

(Did you target the leg side a bit more?) I was just trying to middle it off the bat as much as I could. Nice to get a few and get ourselves in the radar. Lot of credit goes to our bowlers actually. They did really well and put us to a position where we needed 167.

(Does everybody performing help the team?) Yes it is a great win. When different guys come up and play their roles, that helps to get a good tournament. I hope we can finish it on a high."
Mohammad Rizwan (RawalPindiZ Captain): "Yes we targeted to have 170 on the board. It was a different pitch than the last game. You have to give credit to Steve Smith. We did well but he got the rhythm and that's where we slipped.

(On the consecutive defeats) Yes it is frustrating to lose eight games out of eight. Then it us tough to come here and talk (chuckles). I think it is higher than the levels we play like club cricket, departmental cricket and First Class games. We still are finding a way to win. There are a few blips. Like we made one or two errors in the field. Now we can only put in the efforts and the rest is on the almighty.

(On the next match against Islamabad United) Yes that is a derby between Islamabad and Pindi. We will try to win and will put in all the efforts for that."
Ashton Turner (Multan Sultans Captain): (On another strong team performance) “Yes, it was very pleasing. Before the game, we spoke about trending in the right direction and making sure we play our best cricket at the business end of the competition. Tonight was another step in that direction. We feel like we’re starting to produce complete performances. Our bowling attack was excellent tonight - they were well supported in the field, and they gave us a total we felt was chaseable.

(On running hard between the wickets) It doesn’t matter how you get the runs - you just need to find a way that works. The pace had gone out of the wicket later in the game, which was expected. There has been a lot of cricket on these pitches. Even though some boundaries are smaller, fielders were back on the ropes, so we felt running hard between the wickets was a good way to build the innings. If boundaries came, we were ready to take them.

(On the importance of finishing in the top two) History shows that in franchise T20 cricket, teams that win trophies often finish in the top two because it gives an easier route to the final. We definitely want to be one of those top two teams, just like every other side in the competition. That’s our goal.”
So what decided the game? Compare the Powerplays. RawalPindiZ 33/2. Multan 51/1. Compare the fifties. Mitchell’s rescue fifty was valuable. Smith’s attacking fifty was decisive. Compare the finishers. Forrester gave RawalPindiZ hope. Turner took it away. Multan move on with a polished chase, while RawalPindiZ remain winless and are left wondering if 166 was par... or just par-tial.

Until then, I am Dev Rajawat, signing off, along with my co-commentator, Saptak Sanyal, and scorer Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Also, a special thanks to our helping buddy and statistician, Mohammad Anab. That’s it from our side. Thanks for joining. But cricket doesn’t sleep. Plenty is happening around the world. Switch tabs, follow the fun. Goodbye from this tab! TAKE CARE! BREATHE AND SMILE! CIAO!!!!
