Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain): "It is disappointing to lose the series 4-0. I thought we had opportunities in each game. We were outplayed at times. They were a better side than us. No Rashid Khan made a big difference today. I thought that it was our best chance to pip them but fair play to that partnership and it took the game away from us.
We just need to gel together once again. We are so used to having players that have played so many times and have so many caps. So, experience has never been an issue. Now you go the other end of the scale, and it takes time. You never really get the job done in one go. It always is bits and pieces. We have places to go in months coming up and so important that every time we play, we improve. I think we did show improvement today. In the field particularly we showed that we were up for it. That is a what I asked from the players to make sure this was no different from any other game. I think we did show that."

Rahmat Shah (Afghanistan Captain): "Yes. In between we did miss Rashid Khan. Though, I felt the spinners bowled really well in the middle. Also, Sediq Atal played a fine knock. I enjoyed it a lot. That is the reason we won the series.
Before we came here, we had a camp in Birmingham. The weather was similar. We had a good preparation camp. We also are very lucky to have Rashid in our side. The way the batting has clicked, the way the top order batters got so many 100s. We would love to continue it in the next series."

A near perfect fortnight comes to an end for Afghanistan. They were pretty flawless in their approach. Names like Rashid Khan, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sediq Atal and Rahmat Shah were amongst the top performers and with that they outplayed the hosts completely.
For Ireland, they need to first of all get their experienced players fit. Surely, it is difficult to notch up wins with an inexperienced side. Once the senior boys are fit, coach Gary Wilson and Captain Paul Stirling will have a larger pool to choose from, and a much well-equipped team can start taking the field.

Afghanistan have a short break from international cricket. In a month's time they will travel to India and compete in a 3-match T20I series with the 'Men in Blue.' Ireland have no international commitment lined up anytime soon. They ended their home summer for this year today. Many of their players will feature in the upcoming European T20 league that will take place in Netherlands and Ireland later this month.
