Pat Cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain): "(How pleasing was the victory?) Yeah, that's right. Really happy with the win. You are never quite sure how it's going to come out first game. Preparations were good.

(Where are the bowlers going to go?) Ah, I don't know. We need to start working on our batting. The best thing is that it's so high-scoring that you feel like, even if you have a couple of bad overs, couple of big overs, you can bounce back and make an impact in the game. Someone like Praful did that tonight. It's just the way T20 cricket is going. It's good fun.

(On the young Indian seamers) Yeah, they have been awesome. Ishan led them beautifully. We got Harshal and Jaydev who started this season well. I feel like we have got a really good dug-out there full of bowlers but the young guys have been awesome. There were clear plans and they did well.

(Discussions at the halfway stage of the game) We were quite calm. I think it could've gone away from us in the first game. They could've got something around 250. So, we took 220 with both hands. We got off to a flyer in the powerplay and then it was just 10 runs per over. Abhishek, Ishan and these guys scored runs pretty quickly. We have got a very calm and confident group. Really good win."

Ishan Kishan (Player of the Match): (On whether giving up captaincy helped his batting) “No, I think even as a wicketkeeper, you still have plenty to do. I was just trying to keep things simple. It was a very good wicket to bat on, and we wanted to restrict them under 230, but couldn’t.

(On handing captaincy back to Pat Cummins) It was quite funny leading the side for seven games and then having Pat Cummins return. I was very happy he was coming back because he’s a tremendous captain. I could focus more on my batting, wicketkeeping, and my own game.

(On success) You just have to keep watching the ball and play your shots. You can’t go into a zone where you fear failure or doubt yourself. Jofra Archer’s first ball was nasty - very quick and bounced more than I expected. But I was happy to get six runs from it. Sometimes fortune favours the brave. You just keep watching the ball and keep going.

(On chasing 228) We were pretty calm. The most important thing when chasing 228 is to have a good Powerplay. With Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma opening, they make the job easier for the rest of the batters, even if they only bat four overs. I was communicating with Abhishek. He was well aware of the game situation and run rate, while I focused on playing my shots. We built a great partnership.

(On where calmness comes from in big chases) Calmness comes from being in a good headspace. The skill set is already there. You just watch the ball and don’t be predetermined with your shots. It was a big ground, so there were always gaps available. If the boundary ball wasn’t there, you could still push into gaps and keep the run rate moving.

(On whether this is the best batting of his career) No. My best is yet to come.”
What a day it’s been in the Incredible Premier League! Two absolute run-fests, both games won by the chasing sides. A staggering 986 runs scored across the two matches — pure carnage for the bowlers. It was equally forgettable in the field, with dropped catches galore at both venues. Truly a day of butter fingers!

Punjab Kings continue their dream run, staying unbeaten at the top of the table and pulling off the highest successful run chase in IPL history. Later in the evening, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the fourth-highest total ever, registering their first away win of the season. The batters ruled the day from start to finish.

Super Sunday coming up tomorrow! Chennai Super Kings host Gujarat Titans in the afternoon clash in Chennai, followed by Lucknow Super Giants taking on Kolkata Knight Riders in the evening game in Lucknow. Buckle up for another exciting day of cricket!
