Ajinkya Rahane (Kolkata Knight Riders captain): "(What helped them turn the season around after the poor start?) I think the belief which we had after six matches, we had a couple of good discussions amongst everyone, frank discussions. We were playing some good cricket, but this format is about, winning those crucial moments. And after that game, when we went to that break, that win was really important. That changed the mood for us and then everyone started believing. Belief was already there, but I thought the credit goes to all the support staff. The atmosphere is really difficult when you lose six games and then going into the break, it's really challenging, but no, credit to everyone. We kept nice and positive atmosphere. Preparation has been fantastic. So yeah, that's the reason.

(On how Green bowling helped them find the right combination) Absolutely. When he started bowling, we could get Powell in and you know impact he has had. Varun and Sunny (Sunil Narine) have been great. But I want to take a few more names. Anukul (Roy) and (Kartik) Tyagi taking that responsibility, you know, carrying that performance from the domestic season, that confidence and getting it here, bowling under pressure each and every time and contribution has been amazing.

(On Manish Pandey) Really happy for Manish Pandey. His work ethic, his attitude has been fantastic. When you are not playing, it is tough for a player. But he has been brilliant around the group, putting in the hard yards in the practice.

(Are they looking at the points table?) We just want to take one game at a time. MI will play RR before (our last game). So we will anyhow know (our chances). But it is about being in the moment for us."

Manish Pandey (Player of the Match): "(Always part of a team over the years) Yeah, maybe that's why I am still here. Always great to be part of this team. KKR have been really nice and kind to me. Coming back to the start of the season, this is the only game I have actually batted. I was padded up and waiting to bat but didn't get the opportunity in the first four games. But this was a special one. I wanted to stay till the end and help my team win. A couple of partnerships in the middle with Rovman and couple of guys, helped us. Hopefully, we do it again.

(His favourite shot tonight?) I think couple of fours. They were off the length for Deepak and Bumrah together. I thought I was batting well. So, wanted to stay there and continue batting well.

(How important is it to stay motivated if you are not getting a game) Ah, you know, even more important for me is that, if I am not getting to play, I definitely want to be a part of this whole team. Whoever wants to ask me anything, I just want to help around. That's what I have done the whole series. It's an amazing bunch of lads - the youngsters and the older guys here. We have a great camaraderie, and that's how we are finding ourselves in a situation where we are coming back really strong and hoping to finish the last game really well and hope we can squeeze into that top 4.

(Does he constantly work on his fielding?) Yeah, I think we probably spend an hour batting in the nets but we also spend around 45 minutes fielding. Every day, relentless. Doesn't matter if it's raining or it's a sunny day. Because I don't bowl, I enjoy fielding. I want to contribute that way, I like every ball to come to me. So, it gives me a great pride to be able to add value to the team in any sense I can and that's what keeps me going."
Another crucial two points for KKR as they keep their playoff hopes alive. It’s now a ninth defeat of the season for Mumbai Indians. A game that began yesterday and finished the next day ultimately ended with smiles at the Eden Gardens as the home side held their nerve.

Up next, Gujarat Titans take on Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium tomorrow. For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my colleagues Ajay Pal Singh, Ninaad Dixit, Darpan Tikiya, Manish Bishnoi, and Paras Yadav, who brought you all the updates from this exciting contest.
