Dushmantha Chameera to Roston Chase
IN THE AIR, TAKEN AND IT'S ALL OVER! Sri Lanka level the series and take it to the finale. Around the wicket, 114.2 kph. A good length delivery pitching on the leg stump and angled across. Chase clears the front leg and launches it across the line. High in the air but not enough distance behind it. Deep midwicket settles underneath and takes a brilliant catch. 09:36 AM IST, 11:06 PM Local Time: What a terrific all-round performance from Sri Lanka as they register a 37-run victory to equal the 3-match T20I 1-1 with the decider to come tomorrow. Dushmantha Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga picked up three wickets while Dunith Wellalage also got two scalps to his name.
Chasing 195 for victory, West Indies lost their skipper, Shai Hope in the very first over as Dunith Wellalage trapped him in front. In the next over, Brandon King was also sent back by Dushmantha Chameera. There was no other wicket in the Powerplay though with Kusal Mendis missing a stumping off Rovman Powell in the third over.
Powell and Hetmyer continued to build the partnership beyond 50 with the latter getting a couple of lives as well. However, Hetmyer's fortune ended in the 10th over when Pavan Rathnayake at short fine-leg was quick to get to the ball and effect a direct-hit at the batter's end. A few balls later, Theekshana also had Powell caught at backward point. A couple of overs later, Theekshana's spin twin, Hasaranga also got into the action by dismissing Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd off consecutive deliveries.
The wickets kept tumbling with Matthew Forde holing out to long-off to become Wellalage's second wicket. Akeal Hosein and Roston Chase came up with some maximums but Chameera and Hasaranga cleaned up the remaining wickets to bowl the West Indies out for 157.
Earlier in the match, Kusal Mendis carried on from where he left off in the first T20I by getting off to a flier. Pathum Nissanka wasn't in the same touch and he got out cheaply in the 5th over off Matthew Forde's bowling. In the next couple of overs, Kusal Mendis and Pavan Rathnayake also departed to rock Sri Lanka. Then, Kamil Mishara and Kamindu Mendis stitched a mini partnership to get the team out of trouble.
Forde came back to dismiss Kamindu for 24 in the 13th over but Dasun Shanaka came out with a positive mood by taking on the match-up, Roston Chase. Eventually, Kamil Mishara also started to find his touch as the duo started to score at a quick rate putting the West Indian bowlers under pressure. They stitched a 103-run stand with both the batters getting to their fifties. Shamar Joseph did bowl a fine 20th over conceding only three runs while taking two wickets but it was a touch too late as Sri Lanka still ended up with 194/6.

Dasun Shanaka (Player of the Match): [on the innings] "It was very special for me and my team. We wanted to keep the series alive. I wanted to go out and express myself and I took on the game.
[on the mindset] When I arrived at the crease, I was very clear that I'm going to execute, hit my shots today because we wanted to change the momentum. Kamil was set at the same time and we discussed for him to play normal cricketing shots and for me to take my game and at the end Kamil took the game on and hit good sixes. He got a good allround game which suits the T20 format. Really happy.
[on the quickfire half century] West Indies is always a good team when it comes to T20. They have quality bowlers in their lineup. Happy to contribute."
