7:32 PM IST and 8:02 PM Local Time: Bangladesh win by 86 runs (DLS). The weather has the final say and we have a winner! This has been an absolute demolishing act from Bangladesh over Australia. They have been very disciplined with bat, ball and in the field. The Aussies have been just the opposite, something you usually do not associate with them. They were firstly put to bay by the fight of Mosaddek Hossain and then blown away by the pace of Nahid Rana. However, one may term it as an off day for the visitors as Bangladesh take the series lead 1-0.
Australia won the toss and elected to field first. They struck in the second over itself after Nathan Ellis nicked off Saif Hassan at second slip. They could have had two early ones, but Marnus who took the first catch put down a simple chance of Najmul Shanto at second slip in the 4th over off the same bowler's bowling. That did cost Australia as Shanto and Tanzid Hasan added 96 runs for the second wicket. Tanzid got to his 50 and Shanto followed suit soon.
Tanzid was dismissed soon after he reached the milestone for 54 as he mistimed one straight down the throat of mid on. From 106/1, Bangladesh encountered a mini collapse. They stumbled to 140-4 as Shanto was gone for 67 and Litton Das too could not make much of an impact. Australia has the upper hand at that point, but another fine partnership brewed for the hosts post that. Mosaddek Hossain and Towhid Hridoy added 75 runs for the fifth wicket.
Mosaddek was the aggressor and Towhid was holding one end tightly. The partnership breaker came from Bartlett after he knocked him over for 31. Another mini collapse took place as Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Tanvir Islam struggled to support Mosaddek who had crossed his 50 by then. Bangladesh found themselves at 239/7. Taskin Ahmed came out at 9 and he with Mosaddek added 45 runs for the 8th wicket. Taskin smoked a few boundaries and ended with 20 to his name. Mosaddek remained not out with 86* off 70 next to his name.
This was his first ODI game for Bangladesh after a gap of four years, and he made most of it. Bangladesh finished with a daunting 284/8 on the board. The pick of the bowlers for Australia was Nathan Ellis for his 3-38 in 10 overs.
The chase was always going to be a tough one and started on the worst note possible for the visitors. Matthew Short was knocked over on the first ball by Taskin Ahmed. Marnus Labuschagne too was trapped in front by Mustafizur Rahman in the second over leaving the side 3/2 in 2 overs. There was a certain recovery act done by Josh Inglis and Cooper Connolly as they pushed the score to 51/2 at the end of the powerplay.
However, immediately after the powerplay a barrage of bullets from Nahid Rana got Inglis nicking one to the keeper and the pacer gave the Aussie captain a violent sendoff which didn't please the latter. It was quite heated out there but handled smoothly by the others luckily. Connolly and Alex Carey added 40 runs for the fourth wicket, and it looked like Australia are in the hunt in this chase.
Just then Mosaddek who had a brilliant outing with the blade, knocked over Connolly for 35. Australia were 91/4 at this stage. Carey then continued to build with Green before a second burst from Nahid Rana triggered a collapse. From 128/4 he brought Australia down to 140/8. He took 3 out of the four wickets to fall in that stage with raw pace and started off with Carey who was dismissed for 47.
Mustafizur Rahman came on to bowl and took out Nathan Ellis who mistimed a slog. Australia were down to 156/9. The last wicket stand did trouble Bangladesh as Cam Green and Adam Zampa added 35 runs before bad weather forced the players off the field. Play could not resume and Bangladesh were declared as winners.
Cam Green brought his half century during that last wicket stand and out of all the batters, he looked most comfortable playing the excess pace of Rana. He ended with 52* next to his name. Eventually Bangladesh took the match honours by 86 runs(DLS). The pick of the bowlers were Nahid Rana (4-41) and Mosaddek Hossain (2-37).

Bangladesh have registered only their second ODI victory over Australia, ending a 21-year wait. Their previous win came by 5 wickets in Cardiff in 2005. Which means, this is their first win on home turf against Australia.

Josh Inglis (Australia Captain): (On the match and the chase) "Yeah, I think the way this morning went, we obviously dropped a couple of catches. I thought somewhere around 230-240 would have been very chaseable, but this morning it got away from us.
(On the bowling performance of Ellis) Yeah, of course, he was excellent again, I thought. In all three phases of the game, I thought he stood up really well. His change-ups and the way he used his field, he had a really good day.
(On the batting approach during the chase) The discussions were just about playing our game shots. I think it was a pretty good wicket out there today. Obviously, losing two really early doesn't help, and then the guys got starts in our innings, but no one really went on and put up a really big score. We didn't have a really big partnership, and that sort of kept it close, so yeah, disappointing.
(On bouncing back in the series) Yeah, that's it. We've had a look at the conditions now. Not great today, but as you said, we've got a chance in a couple of days to get back."

(What was the plan after getting the opportunity after so long?) It was not easy at all. The condition was tough for us. It was a 320 wicket but after the fall of two wickets, I tried to back myself. I batted the way I did in the premier league. I can say that I am lucky to get the success.
(You bowled well and took a good catch. A good outing for you) I will say that it was a good opportunity for me and I am lucky to grab it properly. I would want everybody's prayer to be with us so that we can win the game. I came back well and I will try to serve Bangladesh like this as long as I play the professional cricket."

The Aussies have always held the wood over them, but what they encountered today is a new-look Bangladesh. They have moved on from spin and now rely on something called FAST!

The bloke doesn't bowl under 140 kph, and around him he has two seamers with skill in Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed. The world is enjoying the aggressive style of cricket displayed by Bangladesh, and this is the best preparation for them ahead of the 2027 WC, which they are eyeing to qualify for.
Coming back to this series, the two teams will once again meet each other at the same venue in a couple of days' time. The weather might be patchy, but the cricket will be exciting for sure; as history suggests, one must expect Australia to fight back.
