NMP won by 21 runs
6:20 PM IST, Local Time: The North Mumbai Panthers kick start their campaign with a 21-run win over Triumph Knights at the Wankhede Stadium in a marathon game that lasted almost four and a half hours with the Ajinkya Rahane-led side taking the contest in the final over.

Triumph Knights won the toss and elected to bowl first under the leadership of the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Panthers opener Hardik Tamore top scored with 67 off 43 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes, Ayush Vartak hit 39 off 21 and Tanush Kotian finished with an unbeaten 30 off 15 to take the total to 209/5. Sylvester D'Souza was the pick of the bowlers with 2/23.

The Knights lost the openers inside the first 3 overs. Impact player Nutan Goel and Suryakumar Yadav added 37 runs for the 3rd wicket. Skipper Yadav hit 19 off 11 balls with 4 fours but holed out in the deep against Rahul Sawant. Goel added 55 runs for the 5th wicket with Harshal Jadhav and moved past his half century and was run out in the final over for 93 off 56 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes but didn't find able support at the other end.

Mohit Avasthi (2/32), Rahul Sawant (2/34) and Harsh Tanna (2/44) picked up a couple of wickets apiece, Vaibhav Mali picked up 1/41, Pratik Mishra was wicketless but conceded only 28 runs with Tanush Kotian bowling just a solitary over for 9 runs. Stay tuned for the post match coverage.
Suryakumar Yadav (Triumph Knights Mumbai North East Captain): "[Where did it went wrong?] I feel we bowled really well till the 16th over. That one over they scored 20 more runs on this wicket. I feel if we had restricted them under 200, we could have chased it because the wicket got better. But it's a learning process.

[On Nutan Goel] He's been scoring a lot of runs in local cricket since the last two years. He has scored a lot of runs in club cricket. We knew what he is capable of. He is batting at number three. We know the chase master bats at number three. But good to see him step up.

[Learnings from this game] Either you win the game or learn from it. You have 120 balls. You can't be bowling no balls in a T20 game. It's a crime. We have to work on that area. Very proud of the boys the way they carried themselves on the field. It was too hot. The energy was spot on. We will go back to the dressing room and come back.

[Message to the fans to come and support] Not only my team. But this T20 league, with the initiative that everyone has taken. I want to thank him for starting the women's league. A lot of girls will go on to play franchise leagues and for India. I saw there are only three teams. Next year, hopefully, it will be five or six teams. A great initiative for the players in Mumbai and I want to congratulate him."
Ajinkya Rahane (North Mumbai Panthers Captain): [on sharing dressing room with youngsters] "So much to learn for me as well to take my game forward. This game is always about learning each and every day. It's a perfect opportunity for all of them to showcase their talent and develop their game.

[on the squad] Really happy with the squad that we have. The preparation has been fantastic. This format is a funny format. You don't want to take things for granted and keep one game at a time.

[on the bowlers] You got to talk to them. As a captain it is my responsibility to keep them calm."

Hardik Tamore (Player of the Match): [on his knock] "I was waiting for a long time. I want to thank the owners and support staff for backing me to play fearless cricket.

[on the season] Whichever tournament I play, I do it to enjoy the game. I don't think very much."
