10:45 PM IST, Local Time: JAY JAIN - REMEMBER THE NAME! Jay Jain has pulled off a chasing masterclass, adding 49 runs off 24 balls in tough conditions, at a surface where no one else really got going in the middle overs. Bandra Blasters have managed to go over the line by 4 wickets and 3 balls to spare.

In a highly anticipated Match 8 of the Mumbai T20 League 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium, the Bandra Blasters clinched a commanding victory over the Triumph Knights Mumbai North East. Having won the toss and elected to bowl first to take advantage of the evening dew, the Blasters' bowling unit executed their plans meticulously, putting early pressure on the Triumph Knights' top order and heavily restricting their scoring momentum.

Nutan Goel from the top order played a marvelous knock adding 40 runs off 27 balls in challenging conditions, with the help of 3 fours and 2 maximums. Other than that, the middle phase was completely controlled by the Bandra spinner's, who curbed the flow of runs and took wickets in quick succession. Sagar Chabria was the pick of the bowlers, he bowled 4 overs for 25 runs and picked up 3 wickets including the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav.

The going got tough and suddenly the tough got going. The impact sub Jayesh Pokhare and Parikshit Valsangkar , batting for the 9th wicket, added 70 unbeaten runs in 31 balls, where, Parikshit added 36 runs off 19 balls, with 4 fours and a six, and Jayesh added 31 off 13 balls, with 1 four and 3 sixes, powering their team to a score of 178/8 which looked unlikely at one point in time.

Heading into the second innings, skipper Suved Parkar and Prateek Yadav set the tempo right at the top, going for their shots, making their intent clear and actually positioning Bandra at a comfortable position. Prateek Yadav added 23 off 14 balls, with 5 fours, being the first aggressor in the powerplay. Meanwhile, Suved Parkar, played a captain's knock, adding 53 runs on the board in 37 balls, with 2 fours and 5 maximums. With the ball in hand, Sagar Mishra was the pick of the bowlers. He was unplayable in the middle overs, and managed to bring the Knights back into the contest in the middle overs, by picking up 2 wickets for 21 runs for 4 overs.

Bandra Blasters were losing the plot at one stage of the contest, when the batters found it difficult to score runs, and then the hero of the evening emerged. Jay Jain walked out to bat at 4 and kept playing positive shots, despite the fall of wickets in regular intervals. Jay Jain made partnerships with 5 batters, yet no one was timing it as sweetly as Jay was. He took the game deep, while also scoring an odd boundary whenever necessary. He ended up scoring an unbeaten 49 off 24, scoring the winning run and assisting the team with 1 four and 5 maximums.

Bandra Blasters were coming on the backs of 2 losses and it was almost necessary for them to finally get over the line and that they did. Bandra Blasters beat Triumph Knights Mumbai North East by 5 wickets and 3 balls to spare and finally got those important two points. Meanwhile, TKM, have lost 2 in their first 2 games and will be itching to bounce back.
Suryakumar Yadav (Triumph Knights Mumbai North East Captain): "(Was the score enough?) I can't say it is a tough loss. I am very proud of the way we batted after we were 108/8. We were almost out of the game in the 15th over. But the way Pokhre and Pari batted, it took us to 178. It was a par score. A few catches or a few good balls here and there, the result could have been different. Very proud of the way the boys fought.

(Words you will be having with the team now) Nothing much as I rightly said they have played a lot of cricket and developed that kharoos nature within them. The local cricketers are showing their characters in all the games and the league has got bigger and better.

(Any area where you lose the game?) When you lose a game, you have a lot to talk about. You don't talk about those when you are winning. There are things to learn. As a team, we need to focus on a few things and comeback strongly."
Time for the post-match presentation.
Player of the Match: Jay Jain
Jay Jain (Player of the Match): (How satisfying is the victory?) Feels great to great the win under our belt. Very happy to contribute to the win.

(Is it only about hitting maximums?) No actually I am a very instinctive batter. If there is anything in my zone, I like to hit that.

(What is generally the routine for you to get the power hitting ability?) I think I have talked with a lot of players. Of course, Surya bhaiya. I can talk to him anytime. I idolize him and it is always special to talk to your idol."
Suved Parkar (Bandra Blasters Captain): "It feels good to be on the winning side, rather talking to you straight after the match.

(On first innings) I think our pace bowlers, couldn't execute their plans well. That is why they ended up scoring so many runs and then took them to 175+ runs.

(On his start) At night, the ball seams and swings a lot. So, I was looking to take my time, because I know that if I stay till the end, I will get the job done.

(On rest of the team contributing) Yes, a lot of contributors. Jay Jain is a brilliant player and it was great to see him win the game for us."
That's a wrap of our coverage from the 8th T20 match of the ongoing Mumbai T20 League 2026 between Triumph Knights Mumbai North East and Bandra Blasters. After a grueling battle, the chasing team, led by the brilliance of Jay Jain, managed to cross the line and finally earned two invaluable points in their third game of the season. Meanwhile, icon Suryakumar Yadav led, Triumph Knights have found themselves on the wrong side of the results twice in two games and are still looking to get off the mark.

For now, this is Utsav Chandak, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal & the scorer/analyst of the fixture, Ashok Dayma.
