3:53 PM IST & Local Time: A commanding performance from Sri Lanka here in Hambantota as they have outplayed Pakistan in all departments. The hosts have hammered Pakistan by 8 wickets to clinch the ODI series 2-1 in emphatic fashion.
Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first. The hosts made the perfect start, reducing Pakistan to 10/3 in no time, with Chethana Vimukthi claiming all three wickets in her first over. Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali then came together to rebuild the innings with a vital 68-run partnership. Just when Pakistan looked to be gaining some momentum, skipper Chamari Athapaththu broke the stand by dismissing Gull Feroza for a well-made 40.
Pakistan lost their way after that breakthrough as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Muneeba Ali (34), Najiha Alvi (30) and captain Fatima Sana (41) chipped in with useful contributions, but none of them could convert their starts into a substantial score. Pakistan were eventually bundled out for just 187 in 40 overs. Chethana Vimukthi (3/36) and Chamari Athapaththu (3/27) starred with the ball, picking up three wickets each.
In reply, Sri Lanka made a flying start, led by their skipper Chamari Athapaththu, who looked in complete control from the outset. The hosts raced away before Pakistan broke the 46-run opening stand in the seventh over, with Fatima Sana dismissing Vishmi Gunaratne for 12. Chamari Athapaththu continued her attacking approach and brought up a brilliant half-century off just 33 balls before eventually departing for 52, giving Pakistan a glimmer of hope.
However, Hasini Perera and Harshitha Samarawickrama made sure there were no further hiccups in the chase. The pair batted with great composure, rotated the strike beautifully and punished every loose delivery. Harshitha Samarawickrama remained unbeaten on 71, bringing up her 9th ODI half-century with a mature and match-winning knock. Hasini Perera was equally assured, finishing unbeaten on 50 and registering her fourth ODI fifty.

(What was the chat during the innings break regarding defending 187) Yes definitely. As a professional we need to do that. It was a batting track and we were not up to the mark with our bowling. But yeah, we will try and discuss about these things.
(Positives to takeaway from this series) We have a lot of positives. The way Gull Feroza played, Sidra Amin played and as senior players, they are definitely up to the mark. We just need to improve in the junior side.
(Any message to the girls ahead of the T20I series?) Yeah definitely. I will give them the message to just explore and enjoy the series."

As a captain I always talked to her and tried to give her confidence because she played in her 6th game today. As a captain, as a senior member of the team, I just tell them to execute the plans and bowl at the stumps. She bowled extremely well.
(What was her plan while bowling today?) No, actually, I just kept bowling according to my plans. Normally I bowl in the T20 format but not in the 50-over format. But, I just tried to attack the stumps and bowl according to my plans.
(Was it nice to get a fifty today?) Yeah, definitely. I still searching for my hundred. It missing since the last 18 months. So, I am focused onto scoring Hundreds in this format."
