6:38 PM IST and Local Time: After two consecutive losses to start the tournament, Gulbarga Mystics roars back in style with a thumping victory over Shivamogga Yodhas. They have got the win by a massive margin by 95 runs and this is a huge boost to them in terms of NRR.

Batting first, the Gulbarga Mystics openers did not show any mercy to the Shivamogga Yodhas bowlers. Shreesha Achar extracted a quality amount of turn but that was not enough to keep BR Sharath and Lochan Gowda quiet. Sharath added 24 in just 10 balls before Achar removed him. But that dismissal put a worse effect on the Yodhas. Prakhar Chaturvedi joined the crease and he went hammer and tongs right from the first ball. He and Gowda  added 74 runs in just 28 balls. Mystics put up 94 inside the powerplay and got an upper hand in the game.

Lochan Gowda scored 47 and Prakhar Chaturvedi scored 45 off just 19 balls. They both missed out on deserving fifties and their dismissals brought an opening for the Yodhas. Yash Punja removed Thippa Reddy and made sure the pair of Macneil Noronha and Manish Pandey had to rebuild.

The pair of Noronha and Pandey scored 35 in 3 overs but MG Naveen removed both of them in a space of three balls. Gulbarga Mystics slumped to 181/6. Then the lower order batters took the game deep till the last over and Kranthi Kumar took 18 from the final over to take the score to 232/8.

For the Shivamogga Yodhas, MG Naveen and Bheem Navale picked up a couple of wickets each. Shreesha Achar, Abhilash Shetty, Yashovardhan Parantap and Yash Punja picked up a wicket each.

Shivamogga Yodhas had a arduous task in their hand as they were chasing 233. Luvnith Sisodia started with a couple of boundary strokes against Macneil Noronha in the first over. But Gautam Mishra dismissed the other opener Tushar Singh and Aneesh KV in successive balls and the Yodhas got into a shell. Although Luvnith hit a few big hits, his innings was cut short by Ronit More who bowled a wicket maiden over inside the powerplay.

Smaran Ravichandran and Harshil Dharmani were at the crease then.  Dharmani hit three maximums in his 17-ball stay but could score only 23. Smaran had a tough time out there in the middle as he departed for a run-a-ball 23.

After their dismissals, it was Yashovardhan Parantap who put some fightback as he scored 20 off 15 balls. MG Naveen, Abhilash Shetty got out for single digit scores but Bheem Navale delayed Yodhas' defeat. He batted 22 balls to score 19 runs before departing and added 19 runs for the 9th wicket with Shreesha Achar. When Navale was dismissed, the team score was 137/9 and Aadarsh Prajwal did not come out to bat as he injured his left shoulder earlier. This defeat by 95 runs will dent their NRR for sure.

Gautam Mishra was the pick of the bowlers for the Mystics. He came in the playing XI today and finished with 3/34. Kranthi Kumar contributed with the ball as he took 2 wickets for just 8 runs in his 3 overs. Ronit More and Suhas Purushottam also took a couple of wickets and were economical as well.
Smaran Ravichandran (Shivamogga Yodhas Captain): (On the loss) "I felt they scored too many runs at the end. The wicket had a lot of juice in it and was spinning right from the first over. I think we were a little off with our plans and execution, and that worked against us.

(On where the bowlers went wrong) I think we gave away too many runs in the Powerplay. When you concede that many runs in the first six overs, it's always tough to make a comeback. They were in a very strong position after the first half of the innings.

(On the conditions) I thought we bowled well in the last five or six overs to restrict them to 230, but on this surface, I was expecting a score somewhere around 170 to 180. We just ended up giving away too many runs.

(On motivating the team after the defeat) As you said, it's a long tournament, and we just need to find one win to get things going again. The tournament moves very quickly, so there isn't much time to dwell on results.

(On the team's response going forward) I have a lot of confidence that the guys will come back stronger. We'll sit down, have a chat about how we can improve, and hopefully put in a much better performance in the next game."
Time for the post-match presentations.
Player of the Match: Prakhar Chaturvedi
Sharath BR (Gulbarga Mystics Captain): "(A near perfect match) Yes the execution was good. I think we came with a proper planning and happy to be on the winning side.

(On him leading the Mystic side today) Just for the change of luck and I tried to figure it out at the toss today.

(Team would like more runs from you) Ya it will happen. I am confident that it will happen.

(A quick word on Gautam Mishra) Yes he has been doing well for the couple of years or so. He executed the plans how he wanted.

(On Kranthi Kumar) He has been doing well for a lot of years. We have a lot of belief in Kranthi. Also Suhas was exceptional today. He did well in the practice games we played."
