7:45 AM IST, 10:15 PM Local Time: Guyana Amazon Warriors win by 53 runs! They become the first team to qualify for the playoffs! This has been another superb bowling performance from the Warriors. They were a bit off colour yesterday, but their spinners were back in form today and have led superbly in the defence of 164. The Qalandars had no reply to the turning ball and helped out with a few really poor shots.
Lahore Qalandars won the toss and elected to bowl first. They were under the pump as Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65 off 35) and Mohammad Haris (34 off 28) were going great guns. They pushed the score to 107/1 inside 10 overs. It looked like they would breach 220 but that is when the spinners of the Qalandars pulled things back and triggered a middle order collapse. From 107/1, the Qalandars slipped to 143/8 before ending at 164/9 in 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers were Michael Bracewell (2-18) and Usama Mir (1-23).
The chase was always going to be tricky and needed a few partnerships. The openers could not provide that as Mohammad Naeem (0) and Shamyl Hussain (5) were dismissed in the first 2 overs itself. Parvez Emon led a little comeback as he peppered 21 off 13 before being cleaned up by Romario Shepherd leaving the Qalandars at 42/3.
Abdullah Shafique with his 21 off 13 pushed the score to 56 before the spinners from the Warriors triggered a massive collapse. Gudakesh Motie in particular ran through the line up and no batter had a response to it. Michael Bracewell (6), Delano Potgieter (0) and Imran Randhawa (1) failed with the bat in hand leaving the Qalandars reeling at 68/7.
The final nail in the coffin was put when Farhan Yousaf, the only batter who played the spin well was castled for 28. The Qalandars were staring at defeat with being 88/8 at that point in time. We said in the meeting that tonight is an important game for us. If we won this game convincingly, we could head straight to the final. We came out and did exactly that.

Michael Bracewell (Lahore Qalandars Captain): "[What was the key difference between the sides?] I think Gurbaz played beautifully at the top. He put our bowlers under pressure. You have to give credit to him. We are happy with the way we fought back in the middle there. Some gutsy bowling and keeping the stumps in play. 160 was always going to be a tough chase. They bowled really well in the powerplay. You can probably say, the powerplays were where we came second.

Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): [Whether the pitch slowed down drastically] I think you and I being here long enough know that (smiles). It wasn't an easy pitch, I have to be honest. (Rahmanullah) Gurbaz and (Mohammad) Haris gave us a great start. Their partnership was very key, we obviously struggled during the middle again. That is the story here in Providence, the team which plays the middle part better is mostly successful here. So, there is something to learn from this game. But I am very happy, the way we came back and fought like champions.

Guyana Amazon Warriors put up yet another superb performance. They probably were not at their best with bat in hand but surely were par excellence when it came to their bowling. They also become the first team to make it to the playoffs. The Lahore Qalandars will have to treat this as a blip and focus on what is ahead of them.
