Pasindu Sooriyabandara who made his debut in the 1st Test replacing Dinesh Chandimal as a concussion substitute but failed to get off the mark made a brilliant start to his career in his first full Test match with 80. Sonal Dinusha scored his 4th consecutive 50+ score and top scored with 103 but Sri Lanka were folded for 290 - India asking them to follow on.

Prasidh Krishna  (3/52) and Manav Suthar (3/85) shared 6 wickets between them. Debutant Saransh Jain picked up the last 2 wickets to fall, Ravindra Jadeja (1/45) and Mohammed Siraj (1/33) claimed a wicket apiece.
