Aryan Juyal (Gorakhpur Lions Captain): "[Starting the tournament with a win] 100 per cent, that was the goal. In the end, it will be important getting these points.

[Did you try to change it up considering the captains chose to bat in the previous two matches?] Not like that, our plan was clear to chase. With the senior players in our team, I was clear. Maybe, with 20 more runs, the match might have gone a different way. Many players contributed and it is good to win a game like this.

[Plans for the bowlers] Our head coach, Ankit Rajpoot was a very big bowler for UP. He has been a working a lot with our pacers on what lengths to bowl, what variations to bowl. When to use which bowlers has been all clarified which is a good thing.

[Strategy for the chase] Abhay (Pratap Singh) had a clear plan to come out and dominate. My plan was different to bat with responsibility but it didn't go that way. But the plan was clear overall to come out and dominate."

Siddarth Yadav (Player of the Match): "[How did you approach the chase after two early wickets fell] I looked to take time in the starting.

[About the conditions] The wicket was tough as we have seen in the matches so far. After I got set, I looked to take the bowlers on. I just thought if I get out to a good ball, it's okay. Just wanted to stay in the middle and score runs.

[Feeling right now] I just want to say thanks to god. I adjusted at the top. (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) Bhuvi paaji and Abhinandan, both are experienced. So, looked to play carefully in the beginning.

[Future goals?] For now, my only goal is to win the title for Gorakhpur, that's the only thing in my at the moment.

It has been a low-scoring start to the UPT20 2026 but the matches have been exciting nevertheless. Gorakhpur Lions will be elated to start the campaign with a win while Lucknow Falcons will want to go back to the drawing board and work on their shortcomings.
