Earlier, East Delhi Riders posted 118/6 in their 10 overs after being asked to bat first by Purani Dilli-6. The Riders made a flying start, with Arpit Rana and Suryansh Raina putting on 44 runs in the three-over powerplay. Raina continued his aggressive approach, smashing 42 off 19 balls, including five fours and two sixes, before Digvesh Singh Rathi broke the partnership in the fifth over.

Anuj Rawat (Purani Dilli-6 Captain): "[On sending Ashwini ahead of Lalit Yadav] The plan was simple. Ashwini is good against spin, so he was instructed to swing his bat, but unfortunately, the plan didn’t work out. These are the parts and parcels of the game.

[Areas of concern?] We need to work on our loopholes in both batting and bowling and come back stronger in the Eliminator.

[Was there any pressure as it was a crucial game?] We were in the game until the last three or four overs, but unfortunately, we couldn’t cash in."

Suryansh Raina (POTM): "[How does it feel after winning the Player of the Match award?] Feeling really good. I just wanted to give the team a good start, and it feels great to finish the last game with a win and the Player of the Match award.

[How was the pitch and what were your plans in this curtailed game?] It was a 10-over game, so I got the opportunity to open the innings. The only thing on my mind was to give the team a good start and make the most of the powerplay."

Purani Dilli-6 had a chance to finish in the top two and secure a place in Qualifier 1, but that opportunity slipped away in today's rain-curtailed 10-over-per-side fixture against East Delhi Riders. After East Delhi posted 118/6, Purani Dilli 6 could only manage 108/5, falling 10 runs short. They needed the victory to finish on 13 points and strengthen their top-two hopes, but East Delhi's excellent bowling in the death overs denied them the win.

The DPL 2026 playoffs are set for August 26, with Qualifier 1 scheduled for the afternoon and the Eliminator to be played in the evening. In the afternoon game, Central Delhi Kings will take on South Delhi Superstarz in Qualifier 1, with the winner securing a direct spot in the final. The evening Eliminator will feature Purani Dilli-6 against Outer Delhi Warriors, with the loser being knocked out of the tournament and the winner advancing to Qualifier 2 to face the loser of Qualifier 1.
