India takes the series 2-1 but lose an exciting final T20I against England, falling short by 17 runs. Suryakumar Yadav's century ensured India was always in the hunt but some late wickets for England helped the hosts' cause. Earlier England scored a mighty 215-7 in their 20 overs on the back of Dawid Malan (77) and Liam Livingstone's (42*) knocks. Ravi Bishnoi and Harshal Patel picked up a couple of wickets apiece.
Team India didn't start the chase as they have liked losing opener Rishabh Pant in the second over of the innings. Virat Kohli who hit a four and a six in beautiful manner stepped out and mistimed a stroke straight to the fielder departing for another lower score.
Suryakumar Yadav then joined the skipper but the stand didn't last long as Rohit departed in the 5th over. India was struggling at 34-3 at the end of the powerplay. That was the start of the carnage as Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer stitched a magnificent 119 run stand.
Iyer added 28 off 23 with couple of sixes as Yadav did bulk of the scoring hitting in every possible part inside and outside the ground. He went ahead and became the fifth Indian to score a century in T20 internationals. The run rate kept climbing but a calm knock from Suryakumar ensured India was always in the hunt.

India kept losing wickets in the final stages of the match needing 66 off the last five overs. Reece Topley bowled a tight 17th over conceding just five runs and picked up Shreyas Iyer's wicket.
With 61 needed off the final four, India lost Dinesh Karthik and then Ravindra Jadeja in successive overs and were left with 41 more needed in the final two. But there was a twist in the tale as the spinners accounted for three overs and there was one more over to be bowled either by Moeen or Livingstone.
Moeen was the culprit and bowled the penultimate over conceding 16 off the first four balls but got the priced wicket of Yadav on the fifth ball. Harshal Patel then hit a boundary on the final ball which meant India needed 21 runs to win off the final over which was to be bowled by Chris Jordan. With a slower over rate, England were forced to get a fielder back in the circle for the final over.
Jordan bowled a brilliant final over keeping his nerve and picked up a couple of wickets to take England to victory by 17 runs. Reece Topley was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/22 in four overs. Jordan and David Willey picked two wickets each with Moeen and Gleeson chipping in with one.

Reece Topley: "Few guys played some great knocks today but feels good to win this award. It is about isolating every ball, you bowl to different batters. Some are set, some aren't set. You just come up with a plan to restrict the runs and be aggressive to try and take a wicket. We wanted to take some early wickets. We were never far away in the game. There was an unbelievable knock from their side but we were always just one wicket away. I was speechless looking at some of the shots they were unbelievable. I have not come across him too much, that was some batting. Yes, I am fit enough to go through this summer but its a long way to go."

Jos Buttler: "It was a fantastic game of cricket. Incredible knock from Suryakumar and he put us under a lot of pressure. Reece Topley exposed the wicket well using his height well and took the pace off. Guys backed their yorker and the lateral movement was important. Good to see Gleeson and CJ with top performances. We are blessed with options which is great to have and even when we play with the extra bowler we still bat deep. [Bowling the spinner] It was difficult the way Yadav was batting but Moeen was keen to bowl and he was really up for it. Jordan has had a great series. He has always been someone we can turn to, he may not get results on paper but he bowls some really tough overs and has been in fantastic shape this series and has got his rewards."
Rohit Sharma: "It was a fantastic chase although we fell short by a bit but to show that fight is something we are really proud of. Specially Surya, the way he batted was magnificent to watch. I've been watching him for a while now. Obviously he loves this format, got a wide range of shots as well, pretty unorthodox the way he approaches the innings, never lets the tempo lose so. It is something very interesting for us getting him in the squad. From there onwards he's just grown as a player and he's been moving strength to strength. We tried everything we could. There were certain plans that we wanted to come out and execute but hats off to England as they played really well and put us under pressure right through the innings. But somedays it just doesn't come off although we bowled pretty well in the powerplay, got some wickets as well but they had a pretty decent partnership in the middle which put us on the backfoot and we know we were up for a chase on a ground like that, you back yourself to get that total but we fell short. There was one thing we were very clear going into this game. We wanted to try out certain guys and try and see if they can bowl four overs for us under pressure. There are things we need to keep working as a group and we are quite open to it. We do understand where we lack as a team having played well in the series so we need to work as a group and need to get better as a team. So far things are looking pretty good for the World Cup. But we want to be a team that don't sit on the laurels. We want to keep moving forward as a team and try and get better every game. Today was a great game for us to learn a lot of things. How we want to come out and bowl certain areas, certain line and lengths, and then to bat as well. When you are put under pressure and you need to respond and how you respond is very very critical and games like this will teach you how to do that. These games are important moving forward so I guess looking pretty good at the moment."
