Team India continued their terrific performance with the ball as the men in blue clean sweep the West Indies in another excellent performance at home. Mohammed Siraj, the leader of the pack started the proceedings with the first wicket in the fourth over of the innings, trapping Shai Hope in front of the stumps.
Deepak Chahar, making a comeback in the Indian XI soon joined the party and chipped in with two wickets in an over dismissing Brandon King and Shamarh Brooks, the latter for a duck. The emerging superstar, skiddy fast bowler from Karnataka Prasidh Krishna continued his golden run with the Indian team as he chipped in with quick wickets of Darren Bravo and Jason Holder and also troubled every batter with his variations especially swing, seam and the bouncers.
Left arm unorthodox bowler Kuldeep Yadav also returned to the fold and picked up a couple of wickets dismissing Fabian Allen for a golden duck and the all important wicket of skipper Nicholas Pooran who scored 34 off 39 deliveries and was looking set for a big inning. Yadav picked up two wickets but was also put to the cleaners especially by Pooran and Odean Smith who starred with an eighteen ball 36 yet again.
Siraj was recalled in the middle overs and almost chipped in with Smith's wicket who was dropped by Suryakumar Yadav in the outfield, who had a not so good day in the field. Siraj then came back strongly and picked up his man with a similar delivery using the cross seam and hitting the deck hard on regular intervals.
Siraj then struck then again in the 37th over when he dismissed Hayden Walsh who scored 13 off 38 deliveries and created trouble for the Indian team, stitching a 47 run partnership for the ninth wicket with Alzarri Joseph, sticking around for almost 13 overs.
Prasidh Krishna then finished off the proceedings with another short delivery, dismissing Alzarri Joseph on the very first ball of his ninth over, Virat Kohli taking a good high catch at deep square leg under the lights. West Indies were folded for 169 in 37.1 overs giving India a much deserved victory by a healthy margin of 96 runs. The presentation ceremony to follow.
