Hardik Pandya (India Captain): "I think both in bowling and batting the powerplay hurt us. We made some basic errors which we shouldn't have done at this level. Everyone knows what they have done. But it was a cracker of a game and the way we got back in the game was very heartening to see and at the same point of time learning would be for us that the basics which we can control, we should focus on that because I always emphasize on that. You can have a bad day or you can have a good day but you should not be going away from your basics and I think we can pass on the message to the group that work on the basics, rest of the things will be look after.
In this situation it is very difficult. As a player or a captain, a no ball is not a freebie. You can give runs and go away with everything else. Its not about blaming but its simple cricket. In world cricket or any T20 cricket you play, no ball is a crime. Not being hard on him but at the same point of time he needs to go back and see that these are basic errors which he should not be making at this level.
It was more about giving Rahul a suitable role as Surya has had a fantastic run at number 4 and Rahul has made his debut and is very accustomed at playing at that position. We want to give the new players a suitable role when they come in the team. At the end of the day if we can make them feel comfortable and if they perform, its better for us anyway."
