7:50 PM IST, 4:20 PM Local Time: The rain has picked up yet again, it is steady and the umbrellas are up in the crowd once more. It is very very gloomy and the floodlights have been lit.

8:22 PM IST, 4:22 PM Local Time: The covers are firmly in place on the covers. There is no activity at the ground at the moment as its still raining. We are very close to the over losing territory.

9:13 PM IST, 5:43 PM Local Time: It is still raining, some tires have been put on the covers so they don't fly off. The umpires are having an inspection with their umbrellas on. I reckon they are determining if the ground could be prepared for a game or no IF the rain stops at all.

9:25 PM IST, 5:55 PM Local Time: So after a long wait of almost 3 hours, the rain seems unstoppable, the officials deem the conditions won't be good enough for even a 5-overs per-side fixture and hence have decided to abandon the game.

The crowds were all set, the players were ready and so was the ground but the rain god had other plans and have foiled the series and tour opener between South Africa and India at Kingsmead.

The teams will now face each other in Gqeberha on Tuesday in the second of three T20 internationals.
