22:00 IST and 17:30 Local Time- The Birmingham Phoenix finally have a victory on the board and they have clinched it by the barest of margins. They win by 3 runs against the Trent Rockets Women and it was a nerve-wrecking thriller in the end. The game ebbed and flowed till the very end but they held their nerve in the end and Arlott defended 18 runs from the final set.
Grace Scrivens didn't last long and was picked up early in the innings by Ellyse Perry. However Bryony Smith was really good early in the powerplay and she got a few boundaries. Nat Sciver-Brunt was good too but the duo slowed down a bit after the powerplay which built up the pressure.
Hannah Baker, Charis Pavely and Emily Arlott didn't give a lot away and it created the pressure. The boundaries dried up as Smith and Brunt weren't able to get the big shots. They got to 55 at the end of the 10th set and Baker picked up the wicket in the 11th set. She got rid of Smith who perished in the quest of a big shot.
Ashleigh Gardner struggled to get going as the run rate required continued to mount. However Nat Sciver-Brunt launched a counter attack and got to her 50 in style. With four overs remaining the game was evenly poised as the Trent Rockets needed 37 runs from 20 balls.
However it was one over from Charis Pavely where she picked up two wickets and it turned the game in favor of the Birmingham Phoenix. Heather Graham upped the ante and played the big shots. But the wickets kept tumbling at the other end. In the end, the fifty from Sciver-Brunt and the 30 of just 12 balls from Graham didn't work for the Trent Rockets as the acceleration came way too late in the end.
