Earlier today, South Africa came to bat first after winning the toss and started the day nicely. Temba Bavuma, the skipper got retired hurt but he scored 35 runs. Ryan Rickelton scored 40 and the number 3 batter Rassie van der Dussen added 35 runs. Interestingly all the top three batters faced 39 balls each in their stay.
The equation got better for the Proteas as Kyle Verreynne and Tristan Stubbs took the charge. Verreynne, who replaced de Zorzi in the first eleven scored 67 runs facing 64 balls. He got out but Tristan Stubbs took the innings going. The swashbuckling right hander scored his maiden ODI hundred and remained unbeaten on 112 facing 81 balls with 8 fours and 3 maximums. Wiaan Mulder played an useful knock of 43 runs from 34 balls to help his side to post 343 runs on the board.
For Ireland, Craig Young, Curtis Campher, Andy McBrine and Gavin Hoey took a wicket each.
Coming to bat first, Ireland lost Andy Balbirnie and Paul Stirling for cheap scores and right there, they were on backfoot. Harry Tector and Curtis Campher put up a fightback but both of them got out for cheap scores. Tector scored 20 while Campher got out for 17 off 14 balls. Situation worsened for the Irish side as they lost Stephen Doheny for a golden duck. George Dockrell swung his bat to score 11 and at a time, Ireland was reduced to 65 for 6.
The Irish lower order put up a great fight and that was started by Mark Adair who scored 21 runs. The partnership for the final wicket was of 52 runs. Craig Young added an unbeaten 29 runs from 21 balls with 3 fours and a maximum. Graham Hume added 21 while Gavin Hoey scored a quick 23 to help their side to post 169.
For South Africa, Lizaad Williams was the star of the show with 3 wickets. Lungi Ngidi and Bjorn Fortuin took 2 wickets each while the rest of the wickets were shared between Ottinel Baartman, Wiaan Mulder and Andile Phehlukwayo.

I got a bit emotional, and after taking the third wicket, I started thinking about getting five. Tristan Stubbs(Player of the Match): "I thought that in the first game I got out playing a rash shot and today my focus was not letting that one happen. I wanted to build up a big partnership with Kyle and that paid off.
The ball was holding a bit so we decided to rotate the strike. Hitting through the big part of the ground was a tough job to do."

Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain): "Yeah, it was a tough day at the office. We struggled to take wickets in the middle period again and didn’t get any at the start, which made it hard work.
Yeah, I don’t think our approach has changed much, to be honest. We tried to get through the new ball, which moved around a bit again, and we couldn’t quite manage that. We know that to chase a total like 340, we need partnerships and big scores, like South Africa did. It wasn’t about coming out all guns blazing, but we definitely needed to get past the 10s and 20s and push on to make bigger scores, which we couldn’t do.
Yeah, we've got two days of rest ahead. It’s going to be an important couple of days. Playing two games in three days is tough, but that’s part of professional and international cricket. Hopefully, we’ll come back stronger on Monday."
