With Gambhir, you know I have played with him. I know his mindset. We all know how he wants to take things. Its still early days but yeah, we have started well. It has been fruitful so far.
We thought about how to keep things moving. To be honest, we thought a lot about keeping the game moving. We lost a couple of days. When we came on day four, we wanted to get them out as early as possible and see what we could do with the bat.
The moment we know they were all out for 233, its not about how many runs we wanted to score, but it was about how many overs we want to bowl at them. The pitch didn't have much for bowlers but to get a game out of that pitch was a great effort from the bowlers.
It was a risk that we were willing to take. We were ready to give ourselves a chance at a result. When batting like that, there is a risk of being bundled out quickly. Even if we got all about for 130-150, it was fine.
Yeah, yeah! Look, Akash Deep has played a lot of cricket in the domestic circuit. He had bowled a lot of overs. There's enough overs in the legs and the guy can do the job the team is expecting him to do. He has got the energy in him. We know that. The body as well. He has the fitness to bowl long spells.
We need to make sure that we prepare well. We want to create a bunch of bowlers who are ready to play Test cricket at any given point. We need to be ready when someone gets injured to test the bench strengths. Thank you."
