The Phoenix Women have now suffered their fourth straight loss and continue to reel in the bottom half of the table. The Spirit Women, meanwhile, go to the top of the table after this comprehensive 88-run victory. This is the heaviest-ever defeat for any side in the history of the competition.

Emma Lamb looked good for her 23 before getting run out on the final ball of the powerplay. Skipper Ellyse Perry, Marie Kelly and Ailsa Lister (4) tried hard but failed to get going as the Phoenix lost half of their side with only 52 on the board.
Amy Jones scored 10 before getting cleaned up by Charlie Dean. The Spirit Women wrapped up the innings quickly. Phoebe Brett didn’t come out to bat after an injury to her right hand as the Phoenix Women finished their innings on 76/9, losing the game by 88 runs. It was a complete bowling performance from the Spirit Women, with skipper Charlie Dean (2/16) and Eva Gray (2/13) grabbing two scalps each.
Batting first, the Spirit Women lost Georgia Redmayne (0) and Cordelia Griffith (9) inside the powerplay. Kira Chathli played a superb knock at the top of the order and was well-supported by Charli Knott (15). Chathli kept going strong and brought up a quickfire fifty. She scored 35-ball 69 before departing on the 73rd ball.
Chathli’s knock laid the foundation for a strong finish. Grace Harris hit some lusty blows in her knock of 15-ball 34 and cameos from Danielle Gibson (14*), Isabelle Wong (12) and Sarah Glenn (7*) powered the Spirit Women to 164/6. Emily Arlott was the standout bowler for the hosts, registering figures of 3/25. It was a disappointing performance from their batters as they lost by a heavy margin of 88 runs.
