9:12 AM IST and 11:42 PM Local Time | Australia have won fourth consecutive game in this series and will be eying on a whitewash in the final match of this five-match T20I series. West Indies have once again failed to defend a 200+ total.
Mitchell Marsh won the toss and sent the hosts to bat first. Brandon King hit a few early boundaries but chipped one to Hardie off Bartlett on 16. After his dismissal, West Indies lost Shai Hope (10) and Roston Chase (0) cheaply.
The problem of the West Indies' innings was that all the middle order batters got the starts but failed to score big. Sherfane Rutherford looked the most promising in his stay but after hitting a maximum of Zampa, he offered a simple catch to Marsh at point on 31. Shimron Hetmyer got out on 16. Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder scored 28 and 26 respectively. In the lower order, Matthew Forde and Akeal Hosein played two cameo knocks to help the Windies to go past the 200-run mark. They finished with 205/9 on the board.
For Australia, Adam Zampa went for runs but took 3 wickets. He was the standout bowler even after conceding 54 as he removed Rutherford, Shepherd and Holder. Aaron Hardie, Xavier Bartlett and Sean Anthony Abbott took a couple of wickets each.
Australia came to chase the 206-run target but got an early jolt as Mitchell Marsh got out for a silver duck. Jediah Blades claimed his maiden T20I wicket by trapping the Aussie skipper in front. However, Josh Inglis didn't let the pressure of early wicket fall on his team. He hit the Windies bowlers to every side of the ground and catapulted the scoring rate. Australia scored 66 in the powerplay and Inglis' contribution was 51!
In the next ball after the powerplay, Romario Shepherd removed Inglis. But Glenn Maxwell stepped up and started going hammer and tongs. He faced 10 balls after the powerplay and scored 39 runs off it. His innings of 47 runs off 18 balls was decorated with 6 maximums and a solitary boundary. He got some assistance from Cameron Green who hit sporadic boundaries in their partnership. After Maxwell's wicket, Australia lost Mitchell Owen (2) and Cooper Connolly (0) cheaply.
But the calm and composed knock of Cameron Green propelled the Aussies to their target. Green added 51 runs for the 6th wicket with Aaron Hardie. Hardie's score was 23 in that partnership before he found Hetmyer at mid-off off Holder's bowling. Green maintained his calm and remained unbeaten on 55 off 35 balls with 3 fours and as many sixes to take his team home.
Jediah Blades, the newcomer showed some promise with the ball. He took 3 wickets for 29 runs off his 4 overs. Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosein took a wicket each.
Stay tuned for the post-match presentations.
