11:16 PM IST and 10:46 PM Local Time | Peshawar Region have come out with flying colours defeating the Abbottabad Region by 56 runs. They have qualified for the final of the National T20 Cup 2025 and will come again tomorrow for the summit clash.After being invited to bat first, Sahibzada Farhan scored briskly from the outset and provided a rollicking start to Peshawar Region, while Waqar Ahmed focused on strike rotation. The opening duo toyed with the bowlers and added 116 runs for the first wicket. Eventually, Yasir Shah trapped Waqar for 34 runs and broke the opening stand in the 12th over.
Sahibzada paired up with Maaz Ahmed Sadaqat and continued his merry ways, adding over 100 runs for the second wicket. Sadaqat departed for 31 runs off 17 balls, but Sahibzada delivered a scintillating 148 runs off 72 balls, helping his side post a mammoth 243/3 in 20 overs. Aamer Azmat also chipped in with an unbeaten cameo of 20 runs off 5 balls.
Abbottabad bowlers looked clueless and leaked runs at regular intervals. Shahab Khan, Yasir Shah, and Ahmed Khan bagged one wicket each for Abbottabad.
Abbottabad Region came to chase the mammoth target of 244 and started well as Sajjad Ali Hashmi and Shahzaib Khan batted well to score 74 in their opening stand from 6.5 overs. Sajjad got out for 37 runs off 22 balls with 6 fours and a maximum. After that, they lost Kamran Ghulam and Afaq Khan cheaply. That made them reel backward in the run chase.
After the opening stand broke, Abbottabad never looked to be in the competition. Shahzaib Khan went to score a fine 53 but he got life five times in his 43-ball stay. Atizaz Habib Khan, Ahmed Khan failed to contribute. Khayam Khan started his innings with a maximum and hit another in the third ball but fell for just 13. In the later stage of the game, Shahab Khan swung his bat to score an unbeaten 32 off 17 balls. Khalid Usman also contributed 17 runs but Abbottabad could only muster 187 on the board.
Usman Tariq, Israrullah and the skipper Iftikhar Ahmed himself took two wickets each. Imran JNR was the only pacer to get wickets. He finished with 2/22.
