7:59 PM IST and 4:29 PM Local Time: Durban Super Giants finish with a mammoth victory over Paarl Royals by a margin of 58 runs. They have managed to get a bonus point too and it has kept their chances alive mathematically. Paarl Royals have qualified for the play-off but they will have to do better in a few areas with the play-off approaching. DSG have toppled the MICT and Joburg Super Kings with this victory and are at the fourth position of the points table with 19 points.
Durban Super Giants were asked to bat first and they got a couple of early jolts as they lost Sunil Narine and Jos Buttler in a quick succession. But Aiden Markram and Kane Williamson gave the counter attack and added 44 runs for the third wicket before the Kiwi legend got out for 22 off 20. Markram started accelerating right after that. He got Heinrich Klaasen by his side and together they added 81 for the 4th wicket out of which Klaasen's contribution was only 29. Markram got some assistance from the lower middle order batters and took the innings forward. He got his second T20 hundred by hitting Sikandar Raza for a maximum in the penultimate over of the innings. His unbeaten knock of 108 off 58 balls with 12 fours and five maximums created the difference between the side. He led from the front to help his side post 189/7 on the board.
For Paarl Royals, Hardus Viljoen was the star of the show picking up 4 wickets for 21 runs. Bjorn Fortuin, Ottneil Baartman and Delano Potgieter took a wicket each.

David Miller (Paarl Royals Captain): "(On the ideal score to chase on this wicket) Probably around 140. But obviously dropping Aiden at the back end and then one big over there pushed it to 190. I think maybe 160 would have been a little bit more realistic.
(On Aiden Markram) He’s great on the eye, and as you said, you just sit back and enjoy the class that he possesses. It was good to see him score some runs — obviously not against us — but it was a great knock.
(On his side's performance) I think this is an important phase of the competition. We didn’t start too well in the first game but pulled it back really nicely. This is one of those games where we just weren’t quite there energy-wise. Our fielding wasn’t great, bowling at the back end wasn’t too good either, and with the bat, we lost too many wickets up front. They bowled really well and played really nicely, so full credit to them [DSG]."

Aiden Markram (POTM & Durban Super Giants Captain): "(On winning after several losses) Yeah, thanks. Quite late in the competition now, which is the disappointing part, of course, where it gives us a small glimmer of hope, I guess. We still need a lot of the cards to fall in our favour, but the focus was on today and getting a really good result. I’m proud of the boys for that.
(On how he planned his knock) Yeah, when we had a look at it earlier, we felt it wasn’t going to be the flattest wicket. It was a little bit soft underneath, and we expected it to be a bit tacky and stop, which it did. It just shows the value of batting deep and having a few partnerships out there. Fortunately, we could get a few away at the end and get to a nice score. From a bowling point of view, I thought the boys were excellent. There was a lot in the wicket and they used it really well, and we ended up with a nice result.
(On the team performing in all three departments) Yeah, it’s nice to put a full game of cricket together, to be honest. We’ve got a bunch of quality cricket players, and we’ve probably let ourselves down at times by not putting complete performances together. There was a lot of drive from the boys today to at least put a really good game of cricket together, and I think they’re happy with that performance.
(On the Durban crowd) All we can do as a squad is say thank you and appreciate them turning out day in and day out. People sitting here for hours in the rain waiting to see the match — we really appreciate that. It hasn’t been the ideal competition for us, and we would have liked to play better at home for the crowd, but their support and love from outside has been really appreciated."
