4 PM: That’s it! Chhattisgarh have batted superbly in their second innings to salvage a crucial point from this contest. The players exchange handshakes as the match comes to an end, resulting in a DRAW!

Chhattisgarh won the toss and opted to field first. Mumbai didn’t have the best of starts, slipping to 38/3 early on. However, the experienced Ajinkya Rahane led a superb recovery, crafting a masterful knock that anchored the innings. He stitched together a vital 165-run partnership with Siddhesh Lad, who contributed a solid 80. Rahane reached his century before retiring hurt due to cramps, guiding Mumbai to a position of strength as they ended Day 1 at 251/5.

Day 2 saw rain play a major role, restricting play to just 46 overs. Resuming at 251/5, Mumbai continued to build on their total through the efforts of Ajinkya Rahane and the lower order. Rahane, returning to the crease, converted his century into a magnificent 159 off 303 balls before being dismissed. Akash Anand provided solid support with a well-made fifty, while skipper Shardul Thakur added a quick 29. Persistent rain forced an early close, with Mumbai eventually bowled out for 416. Aditya Sarwate starred with the ball for Chhattisgarh, claiming 5/103.

On Day 3, Chhattisgarh began their first innings with a solid start as openers Aayush Pandey and Shashank Chandrakar put on an impressive 85-run stand. Shashank was the first to depart for 43, dismissed by Himanshu Singh. Soon after reaching his fifty, Aayush Pandey also fell for 50. The visitors’ innings then lost momentum, sliding from 85/1 to 114/2 and later 167/6. Mumbai’s spin trio — Shams Mulani, Himanshu Singh, and Musheer Khan — continued to strike at regular intervals. Despite brief resistance from Ashutosh Singh (34) and Shashank Singh (33), Chhattisgarh were bowled out for 217 early on Day 4, trailing by 199 runs.

Mumbai wasted no time in enforcing the follow-on, asking Chhattisgarh to bat again after securing three points with their first-innings lead. Determined to push for an outright win, Mumbai’s bowlers came out firing. Aayush Pandey once again looked in sublime touch, holding one end firmly. Shashank Chandrakar fell early for 11 — dismissed by Himanshu Singh for the second time in the match — while Ashutosh Singh departed soon after for 17. Aayush Pandey then found support from Sanjeet Jitendra Desai, as the duo built a steady 59-run stand for the third wicket. However, just when things were looking settled, Desai threw his wicket away, bowled by Shams Mulani for 26 in the afternoon session.

Aayush Pandey and skipper Amandeep Khare steadied the innings with great composure, stitching together an unbeaten 85-run partnership for the 4th wicket. During the stand, Aayush Pandey brought up a well-deserved century, capping off a memorable match with a superb 117* off 168 balls. Captain Amandeep Khare provided solid support, remaining unbeaten on 26 off 76 deliveries. With just over nine overs bowled in the evening session, Mumbai skipper Shardul Thakur decided to call it a day, as both teams shook hands to end the match in a draw. Mumbai walk away with 3 points courtesy of their first-innings lead, while Chhattisgarh take 1 point from this encounter.
