Jofra Archer (Player of the Match): [on the win] "Always happy to contribute to a team win.

[on setting the tone] It's just about holding your nerve. You are bowling to world class batters and you want to hit the right spot.

[on bowling in Manchester and here] I am surprised that it got turned around quickly. Sometimes the good balls get hit for boundaries but I was lucky to get a wicket off a bad ball today. For the most part I am happy with how it's coming up.

[on Josh Tongue] Brilliant. I think we were really similar. So if I don't get a wicket, definitely, definitely he will.

[on bowling in partnerships] I enjoy bowling with them. I have enjoyed bowling in every game so far since I've been back for the summer. I really enjoy bouncing ideas off of him, what is he doing and if cross seams or whatever. He also passes the information on his way, he is not a hoarder. It's really enjoyable."
Shreyas Iyer (India captain): "(His thoughts on the performance) I think it was atrocious. Can't think of any other word. Losing by that big margin is not acceptable. We need to accept this loss and go back to the drawing board. I don't think it was a 200 wicket. It was not that kind of pitch. But we lost 4 wickets in the powerplay, which itself was a big setback.

(On the plans coming into the game) You can plan a lot in team meetings. But once you are in the ground, you need to figure out what lengths to bowl. For example,  hard lengths worked here. We did not bowl them often. Similarly, when you are batting and chasing 200, you need to pace and plan your innings. I would say, it was just awful execution.

(On the remaining two matches) We have an opportunity to come back stronger. The key is to not dwell much. We have played awful cricket. But there are a lot of learnings as well. We have to think of how to create momentum. Every individual has to think how can they contribute towards the team's cause."
Harry Brook (England Captain): [on the game] "The communication and the plans going out in the 2nd half were perfect. We adapted really well with the bat. We knew it was a tricky surface if they hit top of the stumps and to carry that into our bowling performance was awesome.

[on the surface] The conversations we had. Salty played a mega innings there. Jos's little cameo in the powerplay got us off to a really good start. We recognized really early that it was a tough surface to hit from top of the stumps. Lots of conversations with myself, Baz, the batters who had been out there and the coaches as well. We had our plans and we stuck to it really well.

[on crucial runs in the bottom order] Everybody knows how crucial runs can be as well to get us to 200 on that surface and it was a tricky surface when we started. It was a phenomenal effort.

[on the chat halfway through the match] We didn't need to talk much to be honest. We already had a lot of conversations up there before going out. The bowlers knew exactly what we needed to do. Hit the top of the stumps with the occasional bouncers, as simple as it sounds.

[on whether there is a room for improvement or sticking to the process] Just adapting to the surfaces as much as we can really. It's recognizing as early as we can what's going to be the hardest to hit on there as a batting unit and using the pitch as well as we can to access different areas of the ground as well. Tonight is the perfect example of that. We scraped away to a good score as well."
The last time India went through consecutive T20I series without a series win:

vs Australia (away), 2018 – Series drawn 1–1 (3 matches)

vs New Zealand (away), 2019 – Lost 1–2 (3 matches)

vs Australia (home), 2019 – Lost 0–2 (2 matches)

Now, in 2026, India have lost 0-2 vs Ireland and are 0-2 behind against England in this five-match series. Only 2 matches are left in this assignment, and the best that the Men in Blue can do is to level the series!
India's bilateral T20I series record vs England before the 2026 tour (minimum 2-match series):

Series played: 6

Series won: 5

Series drawn: 1

Series lost: 0
Fewest matches taken by an Indian captain to suffer four T20I defeats:

5 matches – Shreyas Iyer*

9 matches – Virat Kohli

12 matches – MS Dhoni
To the fans of Indian cricket, this must feel like a nightmare. They have not been used to seeing their team lose much in T20Is in the last few years. However, tonight, they weren't just defeated. They were mauled.

Shreyas Iyer might have won every toss as the India skipper, but he is yet to find the first victory. In fact, in his last 12 T20s as the captain, he has only one 1 match. But in his own words, that he spoke post the end of the previous match, "The only way from here is up".

Two matches remain. India need to win them both to draw the series. Meanwhile, England would want to continue the good work and be ruthless. They lock horns again on Thursday, July 9 at Bristol. Do join us for that game.

For now, this is Darpan Tikiya signing off on the behalf of Ninaad Dixit, AkshayaKrishna Polya, Aman and Manish Bishnoi. Keep following Crickxo for more cricketing action from around the world. Sayonara!
