08:56 PM IST, 09:26 PM Local Time | PHEW! What an enthralling match we just had. Akeal Hosein holds his nerves in the Super Over as he defends 11 runs and helps his side to level the series 1-1. Bangladesh had a couple of chances to seal the series but they let it slip. We will have a series decider now on Thursday (October 23).
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. They somehow managed to put up a score of 213/7 on the board on a slow and turning track on the back some late blitz from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain.
Gudakesh Motie starred with the ball in the hand as he bagged 3 wickets in his quota of 10 overs. The unlikely hero for the Windies was Alick Athanaze, who bowled his 10 overs and gave away only 14 runs, taking two wickets. Windies bowled 50 overs of spin.
Chasing 214, West Indies lost Brandon King in the first over itself as he got out on a golden duck. Alick Athanaze and Keacy Carty then put up a steady 51-run stand for the second wicket to get their side back into the game.
West Indies then suffered a minor collapse as they came down to 103-5 from being 52-1 on one stage. Rishad Hossain and Tanvir Islam bowled brilliantly in the middle overs and did not let the batters to score runs freely. West Indies were reeling at 133/7 on one stage.
Justin Greaves and Shai Hope then chipped in with a 44-run stand for the 8th wicket to get their side back into the game. After the demise of the former batter, Shai Hope and Akeal Hosein got their side closer to the target.
With 5 runs required from the last over, Saif Hassan bowled brilliantly and showed nerves of steel. The equation came down to 3 runs required from the final ball, Nurul Hasan then spilled the catch and allowed the batters to scamper for a double as the match went down to a Super Over.

Akeal Hosein then conceded 5 runs from the first legal ball, with 6 runs from the next 5 balls, he somehow managed to squeeze it in and win it for his side on the very last ball as the West Indies won by a margin of just 1 run.

(On Rishad Hossain) It is not easy to bat. The way he batted, he got us crucial runs. He is in fine form. Yes, he is playing confidently every time he is getting a chance.
(On Saif Hassan bowling 50th over) Yeah, definitely. We don't have options. I feel, if we get one wicket, we can get back in the game. The wicket was turning and keeping low. If we had hold onto the catch, we would have won the match. In the Super Over, if we had hit a boundary, we would have won the game.

Shai Hope (West Indies Captain and POTM) : "That is something we say about the West Indies team, we always keep the fans on the edge of their seats. It was a very good game. Hopefully, we don't make the next one so close. I am very proud of the boys to pull this off.
We could have restricted them under 160-170 but yeah just how the cricket goes sometimes. I think the wicket was slightly better than the previous match. Like I said, I am proud of the boys for levelling the series.
It was a tricky chase for us. It was important for us to keep as many wickets as possible in the backend. We lost a lot of wickets in the end. I take the blame for running out Justin Greaves. We will take the learning from this game and improve in the next fixture."

What a thriller we witnessed in Mirpur! Bangladesh had the game in their grasp on two occasions but let it slip, and thanks to that, we’ll have a decider in this three-match series. Nurul Hasan dropped a catch on the final ball of the Windies innings. Then, in the Super Over, Bangladesh had the upper hand while chasing 11 — Akeal Hosein bowled a no-ball and conceded 5 runs after delivering just one legal ball. However, Bangladesh couldn’t finish the job, managing only 4 runs off the remaining five deliveries to fall short by a solitary run.
