NZ-W won by 6 wickets
6:09 PM IST, 1:39 PM local time: New Zealand win by 6 wickets and keep the flame of hope burning. Meanwhile, a campaign with several impressive patches from Scotland has effectively come to an end. They have a match remaining, but after this loss, they have been knocked out of the race to the semifinals.

'Resilience' has been the theme of New Zealand's campaign in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. They just keep finding ways to bounce back. The tournament began with two heart-breaking final over losses for them. However, they have recovered to register two successive victories post it. On a closer look, the run chase had a similar vibe to it too.

They were 26/3 in 5.1 overs β€” with Amelia Kerr, Sophie Devine and Izzy Gaze back in the hut. Yet managed to bounce back. Izzy Sharp and Brooke Halliday stitched a 101-run stand to not only steer the ship away from the rocks but even get them home. The former, in particular, was super impressive. She brought the much needed sturdiness to the innings and even unleashed some inventive shots to find boundaries when needed. Halliday, on the other hand, kept it simple. She might not have been at her fluent best but was wise enough to not play a rash shot throughout that partnership. Scotland might have missed the trick by not bowling Kathryn Bryce out early. But all that is for them to unpack later.

Even the first innings followed a similar theme. Scotland were 96/2 in 14 overs, looking set for a 150+ score. However, impressive spells from Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr pulled things back for New Zealand and restricted the opposition to a rather modest 131/7.

Darcey Carter was the star of the show for Scotland with her second successive half-century in the tournament. She scored 72* (52) with the help of 8 fours and a six. To add to that, she also snapped up two good catches. Alas, her lone efforts did not prove to be enough.

Izzy Sharp (Player of the Match): "[On batting at number 3] It's just getting the opportunity and trying to make the most of it. I enjoyed batting at number 3. Just wanted to make the most of the opportunity.

[On the chat while batting with Halliday] Me and Brooke had to be there till the 14th over. The runs per over didn't matter much. Once we hit the 14th mark, we were able to accelerate.

[On Halliday] She's so calm and her experience is awesome. I loved batting with her and hopefully, a few more."
Kathryn Bryce (Scotland Women Captain): "[Thoughts on the game today] We were good with the bat. A tough period in the end. We left 20 runs there in the end.

[Happy with their overall performance?] Massively. We did well to get those few runs. We had a couple of chances. If they stick, it opens up the game. It was a good effort.

[On adjusting to the conditions here] Bigger boundaries and little bit slower as well. Hard to judge coming from Headingley. I think they played well.

[On their batting performance] Batting was a massive point. And taking those early wickets. We haven't taken powerplay wickets early in the tournament and today, it allowed us to squeeze things.

[On Darcey Carter's knock] Absolutely fantastic. She had a big score against the West Indies but she was disappointed with the way she went through with her innings. I think she learnt from it and really happy for her."
Amelia Kerr (New Zealand Women captain): "(Were they happy with the score at the halfway stage?) Really happy to keep them to that total. They got off to a flyer. Darcey Carter obviously played a good innings. But I thought we pulled it back in the last 4-5 overs to keep them down to 131."

(On the fielding) Some good stuff, some stuff where we can be better. We know that.

We don't want to keep losing 3 (wickets) in the powerplay.. But special knock from Izzy Sharp. I have seen her in the nets and in the Super Smash. I think she has the potential to be one of New Zealand's best and maybe one of the best in the world too.

(About the next game against England at the Oval) Excited for it. The Oval always gets great crowds. The wicket there is a tad slow wicket and we have all to play for."
New Zealand keep their hopes alive. Scotland get knocked out of the race to the semifinals. However, we are only one-third of the way through this day in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. Yes, it is a triple-header Tuesday.

Coming up is Sri Lanka vs Ireland. Feel free to switch tabs and tune into the coverage for that match. From here, it is Darpan Tikiya signing off on the behalf of Akshay Bhide, Aman and Yogesh Kumar. See you soon!
