6:25 PM IST, 3:55 PM Local: What a game it was. What a final over it turned out to be! Oman could have chased it earlier, but full marks to the UAE for keeping the opposition under pressure. However, in the end, it is Oman who have put points on the table. They have beaten the UAE by two wickets, chasing down the target on the final ball of the match!
Restricting the opposition to 154/9 and chasing the total down by two wickets. An easy victory, right? No, the UAE, despite being down for almost the whole game, brought them back in the fag-end.
After the UAE batters surrendered to spinners on a tough track, the new-ball bowlers had an off start in the second innings for the UAE. However, Aayan Afzal Khan, Rohid Khan and some brilliant fielding work brought them into the game inside the powerplay.
But then, Saishiv Narayan and Aryan Bisht eased things in the chase, with a partnership of 63 runs for the fourth wicket. Things were looking just fine but then Narayan lost the plot and departed in the 13th over. Wasim Ali then joined Bisht in the middle to share 27 runs between them. What followed next was the collapse of all times!
Oman kept on losing wicket after wicket in the death over. And despite having four runs to chase in the final over, they made it pretty tough for themselves. From four needed off six balls, the equation came down to 1 off three (and one off one ball). But Samay Shrivastava took it in his hands to chase down the target on the final ball!
