David Miller (POTM): "(What was the conversation with Brevis when he walked out to bat at 20/3?) Look, at that stage, you were always behind the tale there. Just make sure to stick to your strengths and not go into your shell. You have to play good cricket shots, nice and selective. Getting to bat in the powerplay, all the fielders were inside the ring, and it was nice to get a couple of over the fielders. Brevis was there, batting well all the way through. Stubbo (Stubbs) as well. It was all about extending that partnership. We are all boundary strikers, and it was all about rotating the strike.
(What were his main scoring areas?) think with the nature of this ground, you actually want to look straight. It’s smaller straight than square, so you want to shape up to be hitting straight and then react accordingly. It wasn’t spinning too much in the first innings, so just looking to be nice and aggressive to the spinners and chip it away where you can.
(How tough it is to accelerate against the Indian bowling attack?) They’re a serious setup, some really world-class bowlers there. It’s something we spoke about a lot. We’ve played against them a lot as well, so it’s about matching intensity, if not raising it against their bowlers and putting them under the pump. They are good bowlers, but they do bowl bad balls, so it’s about making sure you’re in a position to capitalise."

Suryakumar Yadav (India Captain): "(How will he sum up India's performance tonight?) I feel we were always in the game when we started. I think we bowled really well in the beginning to reduce them to 20/3 or 21/3. And the way they batted, especially between 7-15 overs, I think they batted really well. Then we came back into the game later. Overall, we bowled well, but we could have batted a bit better.
(On India's batting approach) Sometimes you've got to think if you are chasing 180-185, you can't win the game in the powerplay, but you might lose in the powerplay. We lost too many wickets in the powerplay. We couldn't get small, small partnerships, which we wanted to have while chasing 180-185. But then it is part of the game. We will learn from it. We will sit back and come back stronger.
(On India's bowling attack having Bumrah and Arshdeep) I think everyone knows their combination has been very lethal. Both of them have played together. Today also, both of them bowled 8 overs and picked up around 5 wickets and gave away around 45-50 runs, if I am correct. I am not good with the numbers. But they bowled really well in partnership and that’s what we want from them. Both are experienced and it’s good to have both of them in our side.
(On game plans against Zimbabwe) Hopefully, bat well, bowl well, and field well (chuckles). We will try to keep it simple. We will try to play the same brand of cricket we have been playing. We will come back stronger."

Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "[How does that feel] Yeah, a great performance. Very different type of wicket from what we have had here. So, great to see boys assess that pretty early and sort of adapt their skills to execute the plans. Really pumped for the bowling crew, they have been working hard. Started off the comp a bit tough, the way they rocked back here tonight was a great effort.
[Talk when the scorecard was 20/3] Yeah, I think first and foremost it was about the partnership. Dave and Brev put that on for us. Sort of steadied the ship and kept us in the game. The talk was that the ball was not coming onto the bat. Bit spungy, looking at spaces where we could run hard and sort of take it as deep as we can in the backend. I thought they bowled well up front and at the death but our batting throughout the middle was the difference.
[On fielding effort] Good effort, we put down one or two but it wasn't because of lack of effort. I thought the other day against UAE we weren't as connected as we would have liked. It was much better today. Going to make mistakes as a group, those two will just brush aside.
[On Lungi Ngidi] Yeah, we feel like he's a threat whenever he's bowling. It depends on the conditions, if we feel like it won't do much with the new ball, we will keep him back. We feel like he can take wickets for us throughout that middle phase. He’s happy to do anything, a proper team soldier, and he just rocks up and keeps delivering.
[On South Africa's next match against West Indies] Yeah, I think it is the same for both teams. They are a dangerous T20 side, they are playing good cricket. You want to take confidence and good vibes for granted. We will be back here on 28th and yeah, full steam ahead."

India's unbeaten record in an ICC event once again has come to an end in Ahmedabad! Revenge is a dish best served cold, and South Africa have somewhat levelled the scores for that heartbreak in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.
