Harry Brook (England Captain): "(On opting to bowl first) Yeah, we just thought that the wicket would hold up a little bit early on with the pitch being fresh. We were expecting a little bit of more spin in the first innings but the ball came onto the bat nicely. All our lads should be proud of the way they played tonight and throughout the tournament.
(On how costly was that drop catch of Samson) Yeah, I hold my hand up and say that I made a big mistake there dropping Samson. Yeah catches win you matches as the old phrase says. Unfortunately it didn't go our way tonight. Another day it would've come off.
(On the mistakes done by the bowling unit) Umm, miss execution to be honest. We didn't execute our plans well. We could've done better. The Indian batters are some of the best batters in the world and if you miss your mark against them, the ball will go out of the park. So, we probably didn't execute the way we could've done. We gave a crack at it but unfortunately ended up on the wrong side.
(On Jacob Bethell) Well, he was absolutely unbelievable. He is going to earn some serious money in his career. He is going to have a hell of a campaign with England. He was so valuable for us in this tournament. He showed the world what he can do. Unfortunately we were on the wrong side but that innings is a huge positive to take away from this competition. Seeing him go out there and take the game on from ball one, showing everyone what he can do, it was special.
(On chasing a monumental target of 254) We should be extremely proud of the way we played. Chasing 250, we gave a red hot crack at it. As I said the other day, we are never out of games and that was proven again tonight. Other teams would've crumbled under pressure but we stuck at it the whole game. We gave it a real go and unfortunately we were just on the wrong side of it tonight."

(On Sanju Samson) He knew what he wanted to do as soon as he went in to bat. The wicket was good. Even when the wickets fell, he kept pressing the pedal. The way he batted, the team required that from him. It was all due, with the hard work he had been doing. It was a special knock today
(On scoring 250+ and still running close) Oh my god! I just told Harry, "How much more do we need to score against you guys?" It was a good wicket. The way they batted.. I don't want to take credit away from them as well. They were always in the game. But the way Bumrah, Arshdeep and all the other bowlers pulled things back was unbelievable.
(On Jasprit Bumrah) You know how capable he is, what he has done for India over the years. He did the same today. Raised his hand again, showed character and pulled the game away from them.
(On Axar Patel's catching) We need to give a little bit of credit to our fielding coach T. Dilip too. The way he has been taking the boys during the practice sessions. Also, the boys have responded pretty well after completing their primary sessions.
(On Dube's promotion in the batting order) We did not want to change much, but when we saw Rashid bowling, we knew that Dube was the perfect match-up. Even if I had scored a hundred in the last game, I would have sent Dube in.
(Was he nervous towards the end?) I was nervous. If anyone would checked my heart rate, it would have been over 180. But the crowd backed us. The stadium was 75%-80% full even before the toss. That shows how much they wanted it.
(About the upcoming final) Playing in India, going into the final, the pressure will be there, but I am sure the boys and the support staff will be excited too."

The winning margin for India was just 7 runs, and that is enough for them to take a flight to Ahmedabad for Sunday's final against New Zealand.
Sanju Samson played a quality knock. A few cameos followed it. England's bowling looked hapless. India flying high at the halfway mark. Axar Patel's fielding was on top; Jasprit Bumrah's bowling was surreal. Everyone knew his overs were crucial and literally decided the fate of the semi-final. Hardik Pandya bowled a sensational 19th over, followed by a brilliant piece of fielding to run out Jacob Bethell. The left-handed England number 4 kept his side alive in the run chase and kept everyone on their toes with his 45-ball ton. Bethell's innings will go down as one of the best in a knockout game, but what glory when it doesn't help your team over the line?
