FOUR RUNS! Brilliant stuff in the end for Marx but for the losing side tonight! Full length just outside the off stump. Gets on the front foot and launches a big hit inside out over extra cover. Couple of bounces and it sails past the fence.

IND-W won by 14 runs
12:52 AM IST, 9:22 PM Local Time: India finally have a victory on the South Africa tour after they take down the Proteas by 14 runs in the 4th T20I, a dead rubber but an important clash as both the teams fine tune themselves before the WT20 World Cup in a couple of months.

Deepti Sharma who was out of form in the format for a while was the star of the show with an allround display with an unbeaten 36 off 26 balls with the bat and 5/19 in her 4 overs with the ball.

South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first. Both the teams making a few changes. India scored 185/5. Jemimah Rodrigues top scored with 43 off 29, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh (34* off 18) adding 65 unbeaten runs for the 6th wicket to finish the innings on a high.

In response, South Africa appeared to get a good start with Laura Wolvaardt (18 off 14) and Sune Luus (40 off 24) in good touch throughout the series. Wolvaardt fell early with Kranti Gaud dismantling her off stump.

Luus was joined by Tazmin Brits (30 off 23) and added 44 runs for the 2nd wicket, the highest partnership for the Proteas tonight. Deepti was introduced in the 9th over and bowled Luus in her first over before picking up a wicket apiece in her 2nd and 3rd overs and 2 wickets in her final over to finish with career-best figures of 5/19.

There were plenty of dropped catches and sloppy work in the field from the Indians but Deepti's class act found support from the other end in form of Shree Charani (1/28). Kranti Gaud, Kashvee Gautam and Shafali Verma picked up a wicket apiece.

Eliz-Mari Marx featuring in her first T20I after November 2024 picked up 2/28 with the ball and smashed 3 fours and a six in her entertaining and unbeaten 21 off 13 balls. South Africa needed 35 runs from the final over delivered by Shafali and could manage just 171/9 on the board in the end.

The final T20I of the series will be played on Monday in Benoni. Stay tuned for the post match presentation.
Player of the Match: Deepti Sharma
Deepti Sharma (Player of the Match): "[How pleased is she with tonight's performance?] I'm very pleased with this performance. I kept believing in myself that I will come back harder. All the credit goes to all my teammates because they kept believing in me that I will come back harder.

[How challenging is it while bowling in wet conditions?] Line and length are crucial whether you are bowling normal conditions or wet conditions. You have to keep working hard and bowl good line and length.

[On her partnership with Richa] I think Richa batted really well. We were just talking about finishing well in the last five overs. That's how we contributed."
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Women Captain): [on the game] "Just on the losing side today. Probably if we took our chances in the field, we would be chasing 15-20 runs less. We were in it for most of the chase, just didn't really have enough partnerships or have a set batter at the end there.

[on her early dismissal affecting the team performance] I think our job at the top of the order is to try and maximize the powerplay as much as we can. I think we got off to a decent start again. That's another tick in that box. Sune batted pretty well. Just didn't have that batter kicking on and batting right through but I am sure next game we will be back.

[on Marx] She was great today. That's another exciting find. Nice to see how many exciting allrounders we have coming through. She got an opportunity today and really took it with both hands. She was excellent with the ball in the powerplay, bowled 3 upfront and showed some striking ability at the end there as well. Very exciting game for her."
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): "[Thoughts on the win tonight] I think it's overall a team effort. Everyone came up and contributed to the team. When it's a team performance, you feel happy.

[On her partnership with Jemimah] Every partnership mattered for us. Everyone came up and showed their approach. That's what we spoke in the team meeting. In T20s, you have to show the right approach.

[How tough were the conditions?] Conditions were very tough to be honest. The outfield was very wet and it was very hard. But both the teams were putting their body on the line.

[On Deepti Sharma] She's a quality played. We had a good discussion last evening during the training session. Happy to see her perform.

[Will they gain confidence after winning tonight's game?] We know the series is not in our hands. But we have to show good approach in the final two games."
That's it from our coverage of the 4th WT20I between South Africa and India! A fantastic performance from the women in blue after going 3-0 down in the series. Deepti Sharma's performance helps them change the scoreline to 3-1 with the series finale to be played on Monday in Benoni.
