2:34 AM IST & 10:04 PM Local Time: That's it! Gloucestershire have completely outplayed Surrey tonight. A superb all-round performance saw them bundle Surrey out for just 134 and seal a convincing 57-run victory.
Earlier in the day, Gloucestershire were asked to bat first and made an excellent start. Openers D'Arcy Short and Dawid Malan took full advantage of the field restrictions as Gloucestershire raced to 67/1 at the end of the Powerplay. Short anchored the innings brilliantly, while a superb 84-run partnership off just 49 balls for the fourth wicket with skipper Jack Taylor (40 off 26) propelled the hosts towards a commanding total. D'Arcy Short remained unbeaten on a magnificent 92* off 56 balls, narrowly missing out on a deserved century, as Gloucestershire finished on 191/5.
In reply, Surrey endured a nightmare start. Jason Roy and Laurie Evans were both back in the pavilion inside the opening three overs. Ollie Pope and Josh Philippe briefly counterattacked, but Marchant de Lange removed Philippe in the sixth over as Surrey slipped to 48/3 at the end of the Powerplay.
The chase unraveled rapidly after that. Surrey lost wickets in clusters, slipping to 56/5 and then 62/7 in the 11th over as the target drifted well out of reach. Dan Lawrence and Chris Jordan offered some resistance with a 48-run partnership, but the Gloucestershire bowlers never allowed the scoring rate to get out of control. Liam Scott broke the stand by dismissing Lawrence for 38 in the 17th over, before Jordan's brisk 27 came to an end soon after. Surrey were eventually bowled out for 134 in 19.4 overs, handing Gloucestershire a comprehensive 57-run victory. James Haynes (3/23) was the standout bowler for the hosts, capping off a dominant all-round performance.
