Jos Buttler (England Captain): "Obviously, it has been a really disappointing tournament. It was a fantastic game of cricket, and we had our chances tonight. I'm gutted to come on the wrong side of the result.
Joe Root played an incredible innings. It was an unbelievable knock from him. He and Jamie Overton put up a good fight. That partnership between them kept us in the game but eventually, it got away from us. We needed one of the top 6 batters to be with Root.
The game actually got away from us in the last 10 overs of the first innings. Credit to Ibrahim Zadran. He played a fantastic innings. If we look back and reflect, 113 runs off the last 10 overs pushed them up to a score that was a very good score on that pitch.
Unfortunately, in his 4th over, Mark Wood felt his knee; credit to him for bowling through the pain and showing a lot of character. It was difficult to manage in the death overs. Wood was injured. Root had to bowl. Livingstone was also off the field for a while with an injury, but credit to him for coming back.
The way Root handled pressure in a run-chase was good to watch. He needed one of the other top six batters to stay in with him and take the game deeper. He has been a brilliant player in all formats. His ODI record is fantastic.
If I knew, I wouldn't be playing the way I am. Being one of the best players in the world, it is really disappointing when you don't perform.
(Speaking of his captaincy) I don't want to make any emotional statements right now. But I think for myself and the other guys at the top, we should consider all possibilities."
