Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "Fairly disappointing. The preparation ahead of the game was a good one. We were firing, a fair bit to look at as lots didn't go right. It's just one of those games; not much went right.
Yeah, it is what it is. After the loss, you need to get on the horse quickly. We will take a couple of day's rest and then go back to the field in Adelaide.
Didn't really give ourselves a chance. There are a few different facets where we could have given ourselves a chance, like the finish on day 1 with the bat. We should have gone through that period on Day 1. If we could have had, then things could have been different on Day 2.
Ah... A lot of experience out there in the dressing room. This is a big summer. Just a sample size of one. They know how to come back. They are going about it well. There will be lots of conversations on what we can do better in the same conditions and plenty of time in the nets."

Jasprit Bumrah (Player of the Match & India Captain): "Yeah, very happy with the beginning, you know, we were put under pressure in the 1st innings, but the way we responded after that, I am really proud of the team.
You know, I played here in 2018. I remembered that when you start here, the wicket is generally soft, but as the game progresses, it becomes easier. Obviously, this wicket was a little bit less spicy than the last one I played here, but we were really well prepared. I told the players to have faith in themselves and also trust the process because, you know, over here, you have an opportunity to do something special, so on the given day, if you perform well, you have a chance to do something special.
(On Yashasvi Jaiswal) Well, we can't ask for anything better from them, to be honest. Jaiswal, I think he has had a fabulous Test career so far but the innings that he played in the last innings was something special because you know he left the ball well, he has an attacking nature but was really calm out there with the bat in hand.
(On Virat Kohli) Well, you know he is never out of form, to be honest. It was really difficult to judge in conditions like this, but he was simply magnificent. He was looking really good at the nets, and he delivered the same in the middle.

A famous win at the Perth Stadium for India. Why so famous? Why it feels good? There are plenty of reasons to celebrate this moment. Coming to Australia and winning a Test match has never been easy. The BGT is off and running, with India having a 1-0 lead.
No Rohit Sharma, no Shubman Gill and no Mohammed Shami. All three Indian stars had their own reasons for missing the first Test. They opted for the lone spinner again, but it was not Ashwin or Jadeja. Surprising, isn't it? It was Washington Sundar who played ahead of two veteran tweakers.
