Nat Sciver-Brunt (England Women Captain): "(How difficult is this one to take) Umm, I am hugely disappointed. We had such a great competition up to this point but to end like that feels a bit sad at the moment. We were outplayed today by a class Australian side. They used all of their experience in a huge final.

(What would she have done differently today) Ideally, I would've loved to win the toss and bowl first. We were short of a par score on that wicket. It fell tricky to gain momentum throughout the innings with the bat. We were scratching a little bit in order to find the middle of the bat but yeah, guess when the pressure is on, their bowlers hit the right areas and made it very difficult for us. I feel we left it a bit too late in our bowling innings. We obviously wanted to start off our innings with great intent with the ball in order to pick as many wickets as we can in the powerplay but we couldn't. Yeah, Beth Mooney played a superb innings today as well.

(Did she expect the Aussies to come out hard in the run chase?) Yeah, absolutely I did. They have got a powerful line-up with the bat. You know that you need to keep taking wickets in order to steam the flow of runs. You have got the likes of Ellyse Perry coming in if you take two early wickets. They obviously have got great depth in their batting line-up which makes life difficult for any bowling attack.

(What can she be proud of this side in this tournament?) Ah, I have so much to be proud of. Coming in and doing so much work pre-tournament and the energy around the group throughout the competition, we have played some brilliant matches. Different people have had different moments and we have celebrated everyone's success as well. It's a proper group of players we have over here who really care about each other and really care about England cricket, wearing the shirt with pride. It's a tough one to take but we will be back.

(On the crowd) It's such a privilege to play for our country (in tears) and in front of some amazing people, who support us through thick and thin. (Takes a deep breath) So, I am just hugely grateful."
Now, the Australian players are collecting their winners medals.
Sophie Molineux (Australia Women Captain): "[Emotions after winning this WC?] Too good to be true, let's be honest. Dad is here as well. It's a special day.

[What did it take?] What did it take? A lot of thought and a lot of effort and a lot of hard work. And a group of people who were willing to do anything for each other. That's been the real. Playing for each other and caring for each other.

[How valuable is to have the senior pro in Perry in the group?] It's invaluable. Having the likes of Pez to calm things down after the first innings. Ash is there for a long time. To see someone like Lucy Hamilton. She was very calm and she had a lot of clarity

[On their turnaround after missing out on the last two ICC editions] It's been able to trust each other. To trust what we have been doing. There have been a couple of moments in the last few World Cups where we have been on the backfoot. We did a lot of work leading to this. Happy to get the win.

[On remaining unbeaten in this edition] Yeah, I think so. In tournament play, you have to have the same mentality. Really pleased with how the last few weeks have gone.

[On Ellyse Perry] She's incredible Pez. What she brings to the team not just on the field but also her nature and the way she is with the group. She's an absolute legend of the game. She deserves so much and to have these many World Cups in her bag is really special.

[Want to thank anyone?] Firstly, just a massive congratulations to England. You guys played a great rand of cricket throughout the tournament and have inspired a generation. Congratulations to you guys. To our beautiful family and friends who have flown over here. You are special to us and it's amazing to share this with everyone. To our support staff, there are so many of you. You are so important to us. All those long hours and picking up bags and doing those work, this is for you guys. To the fans, it's been an incredible tournament. In every match, there have been massive crowds. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes. It's an absolute pleasure to be a part of. And finally to the girls, just so incredible proud and thank you for willing to come on a journey and everyone should be proud."
Australian skipper Sophie Molineux gets back on the stage and receives the trophy from the ICC Chairman Jay Shah. Her teammates join her and the celebrations begin. Australia are the deserving champions of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026!
Something had to give tonight. Either Australia's extraordinary record in ICC Women's T20 World Cup Finals would come to an end, or England's remarkable record of never losing a Women's World Cup on home soil would be broken. In the end, it was England's proud streak that came to a halt as they were simply outplayed by a dominant Australian side on the biggest stage.

The mighty Australians are champions once again, lifting the ICC Women's T20 World Cup for a record seventh time. After falling short in 2023 and 2024, normal service has resumed as the powerhouse of women's cricket reclaims its throne. To make it even sweeter, Australia have now defeated their arch-rivals England in four consecutive Women's T20 World Cup Finals.

The golden trophy is heading back Down Under, where the celebrations are only just beginning. The Australian players and fans will savour yet another historic triumph, while Lord's witnessed a memorable occasion with a record crowd of 28,887 creating a spectacular atmosphere for the Grand Finale.

That brings the curtain down on another unforgettable ICC event. For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Akshay Bhide, along with scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi, statistician Aman, helping hand AkshayaKrishna Polya and the entire Crickxo team.
