7 PM IST & 4:30 PM Local Time: Take a breather, folks! What an absolute nail-biter we’ve witnessed in the first semifinal here in Doha. Bangladesh A have edged out India A in the Super Over to seal a thrilling win. Scenes of pure jubilation all around the stadium as Bangladesh A march into the final in stunning fashion.
Earlier in the day, Jitesh Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first on a true batting surface in Doha. Bangladesh A came out firing, with opener Habibur Rahman Sohan anchoring the innings beautifully. India A’s spinners, Harsh Dubey and Suyash Sharma, did well to strike at regular intervals and momentarily slow the scoring in the middle overs, but Habibur remained unfazed. He crafted a solid 65 off 46 balls, giving his side the ideal platform for a late flourish. There were useful top-order contributions as well from Jishan Alam (26 off 14) and Zawad Abrar (13 off 19).
India A clawed their way back brilliantly, tightening the screws with disciplined bowling and striking at regular intervals. From a promising 108/2, Bangladesh A suddenly slipped to 130/6. But just when India A seemed to have full control, the visitors launched a fierce counterattack at the death, led by S M Meherob Hasan.
Meherob was sensational, blasting an unbeaten 48 off just 18 balls, which included six monstrous sixes. Yasir Ali played the perfect supporting role with 18* off 9 deliveries. Together, they tore into the Indian pacers in the final overs, hammering a staggering 50 runs in the last two overs. Bangladesh A finished with a commanding 194/6 from their 20 overs.
India A began their daunting chase of 195 in trademark ferocious fashion, led by the sensational Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who exploded from ball one. He peppered the boundary with ease and raced to a blistering 38 off just 15 deliveries, powering India A to 49/0 at the end of 3 overs. Abdul Gaffar Saqlain eventually ended his fiery stay. Priyansh Arya kept the tempo alive from the other end, while Naman Dhir struggled to get going and fell for a laboured 7 off 12 balls.
Priyansh Arya continued to push against the rising required rate but departed against the run of play, dismissed for a well-made 44 off 23 in the 10th over. After the early fireworks, India A lost momentum and three wickets in quick succession, causing the scoring rate to dip. At the halfway stage of the run chase, India A were 101/3 and suddenly needing to rebuild.
India A dragged the contest right down to the wire. With 16 needed off the final over, Rakibul Hasan nailed five excellent deliveries, leaving India A needing 4 off the last ball. But a major misfield from Bangladesh gifted three runs and pushed the match into a Super Over.
Ripon Mondol took charge for Bangladesh in the Super Over and produced pure brilliance. India A sent out Ramandeep Singh and Jitesh Sharma, but Ripon struck first ball, knocking over Jitesh. Next ball, Ashutosh Sharma chipped a straightforward catch, leaving India A scoreless and needing to defend just a single run.
Suyash Sharma was given the task for India A. He removed Yasir Ali off the very first ball, finding the fielder in the deep. But the next delivery slipped down the leg side for a wide, which sealed the win for Bangladesh A and sent them into the Final of the Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025.
