A good start for New Zealand in the first powerplay. Aryan Mann (20* off 36) and captain Tom Jones (16* off 18) have added 40 runs for the 2nd wicket after Iqbal Hossain Emmon dismissed opener Hugo Bogue in the 2nd over of the match. 51/1 after 10.

3:02 PM IST, 11:32 AM Local Time: It continues to rain in Bulawayo. The pitch, square and one side of the outfield is heavily covered. No movement on the ground.

4:25 PM IST, 12:55 PM local time: Alas, the wait continues. The Bulawayo sky is still leaking and the covers are firmly in place. Perhaps, it is time for all of us to get together and chant, "Rain, rain go away."  (That worked against Covid-19, didn't it? Might as well work here.)

4:51 PM IST, 1:21 PM Local Time: The rain has stopped! Huge puddles have been formed on the covers and on the outfield as well. The groundstaff is out in the middle, super sopper is deployed as well. We will have an official update on 1:45 PM Local Time (5:15 PM IST).

5:15 PM IST, 1:45 PM Local Time: The rain has disappeared and the groundstaff is working hard. Only the pitch is under wraps. The entire ground is very wet. Some Bangladesh players are out playing football near the fence. Play is delayed due to wet outfield. Stay tuned as we bring you all the updates as they happen.

6:05 PM IST, 2:35 PM Local Time: The inspection will have to wait! Rain has returned and the covers are back on the pitch and the square. The wait continues.

6:13 PM IST, 2:43 PM Local Time: Rain has stopped! The pitch and square remain under wraps. Another inspection is scheduled at 3PM Local Time (6:30 PM IST).

6:32 PM IST, 3:02 PM Local Time: The match has been abanonded. The outfield is beyond repair and the required overs to complete a one-day match are not possible to be bowled. Handshakes all over.

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl, Iqbal Hossain Emmon struck in the second over to remove Hugo Bogue for 8 but then skipper Tom Jones and Aryan Mann stuck in to add 40 unbeaten runs for the 2nd wicket before rain arrived and halted play after 10 overs with the Kiwi score at 51/1. As a result, both teams will now share one point each. New Zealand move 2nd on the points table as both their matches were washed out, Bangladesh get their first point on the board after their loss to India.
