This is a big win by 142 runs as they clinch the series 2-0 with a game to spare. Bangladesh were never really in it and were blown away by the Afghan team.
Chasing a massive 332 for the win to keep the series alive, Bangladesh never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Litton Das scored 13. Towhid Hridoy scored 16. Shakib Al Hasan hung around there for his 25. But it was the lone hand from Mushfiqur Rahim that gave Bangladesh some sort of respectability. He scored 69 off 85 balls. Mehidy Hasan Miraz showed resistance for his 25 off 48 balls. In the end, it was a bridge too far as Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 189 in 43.2 overs with Ebadot Hossain unable to bat. 20 extras were given by the fielding side.
The Afghanistan bowlers were disciplined with the ball. Fazalhaq Farooqi was the pick of the bowlers as he started it and finished it with 3 wickets for 22 runs in 7.2 overs. Mujeeb Ur Rahman had a good day with figures of 3/40 in 10 overs. A couple of wickets for Rashid Khan as he bowled 9 overs for 28 runs. Mohammad Nabi picked up the other wicket to fall as he sent down 6 overs for 29 runs. All in all, a great bowling effort from Afghanistan.
Earlier in the game, it was all about the opening combination of Afghanistan after they were put into bat first by Litton Das. The opening duo of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran dazzled away in Chattogram as the duo put on a record breaking 256-run stand for the opening wicket. Gurbaz slammed his highest individual score as he made 145 off 125 balls. He was ably supported by Ibrahim Zadran who scored exactly 100 off 119 balls. They lost their way a bit after this amazing start. Najibullah Zadran scored 10 and Mohammad Nabi's unbeaten 25* off 15 balls. took the score to 331/9 after 50 overs. As many as 33 extras were conceded by Bangladesh today in the field.
One felt the Bangladeshi bowlers came back well with the ball towards the end. A couple of wickets apiece for Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. While a wicket also fell to Ebadot Hossain who limped off the field after twisting his knee. As a result, in the chase, he could not come out to bat. A tough day at the office for Bangladesh with very few positives to take out from.
So, Afghanistan wins by 142 runs to clinch the series 2-0 with a game to spare. Stick around for the post-match presentation ceremony.
