Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh's Skipper): "Yeah, first of all, I’d like to congratulate Ireland for the way they batted, especially in these conditions. The resistance they showed was excellent, and we really appreciated that fight. At the same time, I’m very proud of how our boys responded. Taijul, Miraz, and Murad were outstanding, and then Khaled and Nayeem came in during the middle session and did something special for the team. Everyone chipped in when it mattered, and that made me really happy.
If you look back at the whole two-match series, there were centuries from Liton, Mominul, and Mushfiq, and that is a big positive for us. Different players put their hands up in different situations, and that is what we always want as a team. The plan before the series was very clear, where we wanted our top order to bat long and set the tone, and I think we executed that very well. Now the goal is to continue this in the upcoming series.
We always want to play Test cricket. In the last two or three years, we’ve finally had a good number of matches, and hopefully that continues because the more we play, the more we can develop and show our skills in the longer format.
The crowd deserves a special mention. Whether they are in the stadium or watching from home, they always support us, even when we lose. As players, that means a lot. Their love and support keep us motivated, and we always try to make them proud.
A 2-0 win is a clinical result, and it’s a good sign for Bangladesh cricket. We will keep working hard and hopefully continue making our fans happy."
