Young was out for a duck in the 3rd over, and Allen managed 12 runs before departing in the 7th over.
Chad Bowes and Henry Nicholls had a brief 10-run partnership for the 3rd wicket before Bowes was dismissed by a debutant Khaled Ahmed in the 8th over, scoring 14 runs.
Henry Nicholls and
Tom Blundell then took charge, easing the pressure with a
95-run partnership for the fourth wicket. The debutant Khaled Ahmed broke the partnership in the 27th over, denying Nicholls a half-century by one run. Bangladesh's pursuit of 255 runs faced an early setback as Litton Das was dismissed in the 6th over. The experienced Tamim Iqbal played some elegant shots and combined with Tanzid Hasan for a 41-run partnership. Ish Sodhi's introduction into the bowling attack turned the tide. He made history by becoming the first New Zealand spinner to achieve such a feat in ODIs. Kyle Jamieson supported him with two crucial wickets, while Lockie Ferguson and Cole McConchie added one wicket each.
