The day started with Bangladesh resuming at 34-4 after 13 overs as the Tigers still trailed by 107 runs with 6 of their second innings wickets in hand with Rahim and Das the first innings centurion at the crease. Rahim could only add nine runs to his overnight total as he fell for 23 runs to a ball that kept low from Kasun Rajitha and clattered the stumps. But Bangladesh dominated the first session as Litton Kumar Das and Shakib Al Hasan shared an amazing partnership of 103 runs as they took the score from 53-5 to 156-5 when Litton fell after Lunch. Litton Das scored 52 while Shakib top-scored with 58. But after the 6th wicket fell at 156, the tail of Bangladesh was wiped out very quickly as Bangladesh lost their last 5 wickets for 13 runs. The post-lunch session was a dream for the Lankans.
For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando was the star with his 6 wickets for 51 runs in 17.3 overs. A couple of wickets for his fellow pace bowler Kasun Rajitha and a wicket for Ramesh Mendis as well. Asitha with his six wickets in the second innings also completed 10 for the match. A great moment for him as the Tigers were skittled out for 169 in 55.3 overs with a lead of only 28 runs.
Sri Lanka needed 29 runs to win to complete the formalities and they did it very quickly like a rampaging river. They got to the target in only 3 overs to win with 10 wickets in hand and plenty of overs left on Day5. Oshada Fernando was unbeaten on 21 off 9 balls with three fours and a six and skipper Dimuth Karunaratne was with him on 7 off 9 balls with one boundary to his name. One over each for Taijul, Shakib, and Ebadot to complete the formalities here in Mirpur.
So, a win by 10 wickets as Sri Lanka go above Pakistan in the World Test Championship Points Table on Percentage Points. Congratulations to them! Stick around for the post-match presentation coming your way soon.
