They win it easily in the end thanks to a whirlwind innings from Rishad Hossain as they win the series 2-1. The chase was completed in 40.2 overs. Great win for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have been outplayed today.
Chasing 236 on a tricky pitch, Bangladesh got off to a steady start courtesy of their openers Anamul Haque and his partner who was the concussion substitute Tanzid Hasan Tamim. While Anamul scored 12, Tanzid was the star of the show with his 84 off 81 balls. Towhid Hridoy chipped in with 22 off 36 balls. Mehidy Hasan Miraz played an important hand for his 25 off 40 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim held one end up at one end as he was unbeaten with 37* off 36 balls. Then it was the Rishad Hossain show as his whirlwind cameo of 48* off 18 balls powered Bangladesh to a 4-wicket win over Sri Lanka with 58 balls to spare.
Lahiru Kumara was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka with figures of 4/48 in 8 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga picked up a couple of wickets but was taken to the cleaners by Rishad towards the end. The rest came back wicketless.
Earlier in the game. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first and lost wickets at regular intervals. The openers fell cheaply while skipper Kusal Mendis scored 29. Sadeera scored 14 while Asalanka looked decent for his 37. But amidst all the ruins, one man stood out for Sri Lanka and that was Janith Liyanage. His unbeaten century in which he scored 101* rescued Sri Lanka to get to a competitive total. He scored 101* off 102 balls while Hasaranga and Theekshana got into double figures and gave him some support towards the end. They ended with 235 in 50 overs.
Wickets were shared around by the Bangladesh bowlers. Taskin Ahmed was the pick of them with figures of 3/42 in 10 overs. A couple of wickets for Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. A wicket for Soumya Sarkar and Rishad Hossain. Shoriful Islam bowled well but went wicketless today.
