4:35 PM IST, 5:05 PM Local time: India wrap up a low scoring encounter to win the second T20I by 8 runs and going 2-0 up in the three-match series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur called it right at the toss and elected to bat first. India lost wickets at regular intervals and somehow managed to put 95/8 on the board with Shafali Verma top scoring with 19. Sultana Khatun picked up 3 wickets for 21 runs.
In response, Bangladesh got a good start hitting 10 runs in the first over but started losing wickets from the second over as Minnu Mani bowled a wicket maiden finishing with her career best T20I figures of 2/9. There was a concussion replacement for Bangladesh as Sobhana Mostary who got hit on the head in the first innings was replaced by Murshida Khatun in the 2nd innings.
There were 18 extras in the innings and besides skipper Nigar Sultana's 38, there was no substantial innings as the India spinners ran through the order despite Sultana keeping Bangladesh in hunt till the last over where they needed 10 runs but had just lost the skipper's wicket in the previous over where Deepti Sharma finished her 4 over spell with 3 wickets conceding only 12 runs.
India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur trusted the part time spinners with the task as Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma shared 7 overs between them. Shafali was surprisingly tasked to defend 10 runs off the final over and picked up 3 wickets taking India to a close win.
The last game of the series will be played on Thursday at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. Hang around as we come back with the post match presentations.
