9:01 AM IST & 11:31 PM Local Time: Guyana Amazon Warriors hold their nerves to win a thriller in Bridgetown. Shai Hope remained not out on 62 to see his team over the line. Youngster Quentin Sampson hit a few hefty blows to seal the deal for the Warriors. Barbados Royals have now gone five matches without a win this season.
Earlier in the game, Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and opted to bowl. Barbados Royals lost Quinton de Kock early in the piece. Kadeem Alleyne and Brandon King fell in the span of 9 deliveries.
Then, after a 17-run stand, Eathan Bosch and Sherfane Rutherford fell in the same over. Rassie van der Dussen and Rovman Powell took the attack to the opposition and put on a fine partnership of 82 runs off 48.
Rassie fell five runs short of a fifty while his skipper Powell, got the milestone off the final ball of the innings. He wasn't happy with the umpire, though, as he felt that it was the second bouncer of the over and should have been given as a no-ball.
Barbados Royals finished their innings at 165/6 in 20 overs. Gudakesh Motie was the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors, taking 2/16. Jediah Blades, Dwaine Pretorius, Romario Shepherd and Imran Tahir all chipped in with a wicket each.
In response, the Warriors lost Ben McDermott and Moeen Ali in the second over. Hassan Khan too failed to impress with the bat and the Warriors were reeling at 30/4 at one stage.
Shai Hope and Dwaine Pretorius then added 89 off 60 to almost put the game to bed. It did go down to the wire but Quentin Sampson's big hits towards the backend of the innings took the Warriors over the line with a ball to spare.
Hope remained unbeaten on 62 and in the process, he completed 2000 runs in CPL. Dew played a significant role in the match as it was hard for the bowlers to grip the ball.

Dwaine Pretorius (Player of the Match): "(On dismissing Quinton de Kock) Myself and Quinny (Quinton de Kock) go back a long way. Had tough Powerplays previously but managed to do well tonight. We had a tough Powerplay with the bat. Once the ball got wetter, we started doing better. So, with the rain coming down, we looked to take the game deeper. We always are trying to see what we have to see in the last five overs. Very significant. Going home with momentum but even this felt like home. This performance is for you guys."
Rovman Powell (Barbados Royals): "From a batting stand point, we lost wickets at crucial junctions. At the end of our innings, felt we were 10-15 short. We are getting 40-45 in the Powerplay. If we can manage one or two more boundaries, it becomes 50-55. We just have to give confidence to the guys, they are world-class players.
We have got a good amount of games. It is just about taking confidence from this game. (On something he wants the team to correct) Too many no-balls. It is a spirited bowling performance especially with a wet ball. (Regarding the toss advantage) It is always a big advantage in the CPL. We see in Trinidad, if you win the toss, you win the game."

Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): "Yeah, look. We knew that toss would be important because of the dew factor. We knew because of the conditions that we could go for a few here and there. Just a tad disappointed with the way we started the chase, with the conditions that were on offer, we should have done better.
We just have to see the new ball off. That was the plan after the powerplay. They had a left-arm spinner so having left-handers like Moeen Ali and Hetmyer in the middle would have been nice. We had a good plan but I was not happy with the way we started. We have to keep the momentum going to go into the qualifiers.
I don't mind that, Shai as long as he's in the middle. He is a seasoned pro, we knew he will take us home. Pretorius showed his class, he barely got chances with the bat earlier but we always knew we have depth in our batting.
