WOOW!! WHAT A GAME OF CRICKET WE HAVE WITNESSED!! The Birmingham Phoenix, showed nerves of steel and come out on top by 5 runs. Both teams fought hard, but one team had to fall in the end and that was sadly the Northern Superchargers.
Northern Supercharges won the toss and opted to field. All the Birmingham Phoenix batters contributed with the bat, Amy Jones was the only player to make a substantial score of 48 off 28. The Phoenix posted a great score of 153 and were in advantage at the first half.
Alyssa Healy got the superchargers off to a flyer, with a sensational 46 off 28 balls. The opening stand off 64 was ended by Sophie Molineux who got Healy stumped. Gaby Lewis struggled to get going and was out later.
Laura Wolvaardt (32 off 24) and Hollie Armitage (31 off 19) held the innings and were taking it down to the wire. But the Phoenix bowlers dried the runs out in the end to take cvoctory.
Sophie Molineux was the star of the show with both bat and ball, producing her magic yet again in a nail-baiting finish. First added a 13-ball-24 cameo and then was on a completely different level with the ball in hand. Bowled 10 dot balls in a row, got the crucial wickets of Healy an Wolvaardt.
Georgia Elwiss, Emily Arlott and Abtaha Maqsood also chipped in with the wickets and Elyse Perry's handy 22 and proficient athleticism in the field was a real game changer.
