Another dot ball. This is getting interesting. An off-break on the shorter side around off and turns away viciously as Fabian can't do anything about it as he was making some room to cut it. Perera dives to his right to collect it behind the stumps.
UNBELIEVABLE DRAMA! One to win from the final ball. How can one have a script like this?

SIXXX!!! That's the way to finish the game. Fabian Allen holds his nerves and takes his side home on the final ball of the match. Vimukthi tosses this up right in the slot on the stumps, Fabian stands still and smokes it straight back over the bowler's head for a maximum. With this, the Jaffna Kings beat the Dambulla Sixers by four wickets and grab their first win of LPL 2024.

JK won by 4 wickets
18:30 IST and Local time- Fabian Allen keeps his calm and he launches the ball for a maximum to get Jaffna Kings over the line. They win by four wickets and this has been a contest that has ebbed and flowed from one end to the other. Both sides seemed out of the game at various stages but they came back and in the end it was down to the final ball with one run to win. The Dambulla Sixers will be disappointed but they have only themselves to blame.

The Jaffna Kings didn't have the best of starts as they lost three quick wickets in the powerplay. Mendis fell early and Rossouw didn't last long. Nissanka went big after the bowlers but Thushara dismissed him. The Kings were struggling at that stage as the required run rate seemed to be way above their reach.

The recovery began with the two experienced batters Charith Asalanka and Avishka Fernando. They took their time early on but kept the scoreboard ticking. Once they got their eyes in they played the big shots to reduce the pressure. They brought up the 50 run partnership and then went berserk. Charith Asalanka smashed four sixes in one over and that helped him to bring up the 100 run partnership.

Vimukthi, Dananjaya and Chamindu Wickramasinghe were taken to the cleaners as they were smashed all across the park. The spinners couldn't get the batters to slow down and Fernando in particular was severe to them. The Sixers skipper Nabi didn't bring on Rahman and Thushara on time and in the end it was too tough for them to bring them back into the game. Thushara and Rahman still triggered a collapse to get the game down to the final over but Allen did the job in the end for his side.
Player of the Match: Avishka Fernando
Charith Asalanka (Jaffna Kings Captain): "There was a plan. With two left-handed batters opening for Dambulla, I thought me and Dhananjaya can bowl earlier.

We have small trouble with the bowling options. But Dhananjaya supported me really well.

It was an unbelievable game. Avishka batted really well and his innings gave us the momentum we needed while chasing that total."
Mohammad Nabi( Dambulla Sixers Captain) - We couldn't defend the score and the spinners struggled in the middle overs. Avishka Fernando was superb in the middle overs and he took the game away from us so credit goes to him.
That brings us to an end of our live coverage of this LPL game between Dambulla Sixers and the Jaffna Kings. For now, it's Soumarya Dutta signing off on behalf of co-commentators Akshay Bhide and our Scorer/Analyst Manish Bishnoi.
