8:34 PM IST, 5:04 PM Local Time: The Harare Bolts thrashed the Durban Wolves by a massive 54 runs, extending their winning streak to four matches. Meanwhile, the Durban Wolves, with four consecutive losses, have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Earlier, after being invited to bat first, the Harare Bolts posted a mammoth 173/2 in 10 overs. They lost Lahiru Milantha for just 13 runs, but George Munsey went honkers and bonkers from the word go and pummeled the Wolves bowlers to all corners of the park. Janishka Perera contributed 24 runs off 16 balls and was involved in a 138-run second partnership for the second wicket along with Munsey. The left-hander, Munsey, continued his merry ways and notched up the first century of the ongoing Zim Afro T10 event. His scintillating knock helped the Bolts post a mammoth score on the board.
The Wolves bowlers looked mediocre in front of Munsey and leaked too many runs. They gave away 29 extra runs, which included 25 wide balls. Dawlat Zadran bagged both wickets that fell in the first innings but conceded 36 runs in two overs.
In response to a hefty score, Sharjeel Khan (25 off 14) and Will Smeed (16 off 5) provided a rollicking start to Durban Wolves, adding 36 runs for the first wicket in the first two overs.
Colin Munro, at number three, smashed 32 runs off 13 balls but failed to convert it into a big score. The Wolves lost a flurry of wickets following the departure of their openers and eventually could only muster 119 runs in 10 overs.
Richard Gleeson bagged a couple of wickets for the Bolts, while Brandon Mavuta, Dasun Shanaka, James Neesham and Arinesto Vezha contributed one wicket each.
