8:40 PM IST and Local Time | Jaffna Titans have shown valour with the bat and have come out victorious by 7 wickets and with 9 balls to go in this game.Marvels were off to a good start in the powerplay as they boarded 26 runs from that two overs and then they opted for the floating powerplay and in that over, they lost three wickets on consecutive balls. Alex Hales(21) and Niroshan Dickwella(11) got run out and Weerakkody was dismissed for a golden duck by Thushara.
The game was recovered by Shakib Al Hasan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Both of them hit a few big shots and got out for exactly 20 but their innings gave the team the required momentum. But in the late overs, Marvels lost wickets in clusters and were reduced to 84 for 7. Skipper Maheesh Theekshans played a valuable cameo of 13 runs from 5 balls to help his side go past the 100-run mark and Sadisha Rajapaksa played the perfect second fiddle to it with 10 runs beside his name.
For the Jaffna Titans, Dwaine Pretorius took 2 wickets and Nuwan Thushara, George Garton and Traveen Mathews took a solitary wicket each.
Coming to chase the run, Jaffna Titans batters had a tough time in the powerplay. They could only muster 15 runs as Luke Wood and Binura Fernando were just spot on with their line, length and variation. But once Maheesh Theekshana came to bowl his over, it opened the floodgates for the Titans. Kusal Mendis smacked him for three consecutive maximums. Theekshana dismissed him next ball but it was a no-ball! That over yielded 30 runs and proved to be the decider one.
Kusal Mendis got out for 31 from 16 balls hitting 4 maximums. But Charith Asalanka took the upper hand as Tom Kohler-Cadmore continued to play the anchor's role. Asalanka scored 25 from just 11 balls with 3 fours and a maximum. TKC's inning came to an end with just a run remaining in the chase. He scored 32 runs from 21 balls with 5 boundaries.
Binura Fernando, Luke Wood and Chamindu Wickramasinghe took a wicket each but their effort was not enough for Galle Marvels to get the job done.
Stay tuned for the post-match presentations.
